Institute of Groundsmen

Has anyone on here undertaken any of the courses run by the institute of groundsmen? I'm signed up to do one later this year and was wondering what to expect.

Have been doing the pitch at my local club for a few years but lately the local weather has been getting the better of me so it's time to learn some new tricks (I hope).

I will try to keep you informed. I would love to learn more about the wickets in India and Pakistan, as well as the soil and grass types - anything you can help me with?

Hi Jonad,

I do a bit of everything, ground maintenance and also the pitch itself. The club is pretty basic not much expertise.

How much is the course costing you?

The cost still has to be worked out, I'll pay some, the club will pay some and there may also be some funding to sort out.

Safe to say that the weather over the past 48hrs has put our pitch back by about 10 days. Also had a small amount of damage to the roof, although that will be fixed easy enough.

More the great big sodding puddles on the square and outfield that will cause the longer term headache.
