Kolkata batted first after winning the toss and were restricted to 8/137 from their 20 overs. Laxmi Shukla played a lone hand, dragging the Knight Riders to a respectable total, his 40 not out got them out of a bad situation. Debabrata Das was the only other mjaor contributor with 29.
For the Mumbai bowlers, Sanath Jayasuriya was the standout with 3/14 which included a maiden. Shaun Pollock took 2/27 with Dwayne Bravo and Dilhara Fernando getting the other wickets. Jayasuriya was also reponsible for the run out of Ricky Ponting for 19.
