IPL Game 44 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata

Game 44 has only just started with Kolkata hosting Rajasthan as we get to the pointy end of the tournament.

Rajasthan won the toss and elected to bowl first. So far it's paid early dividends with the Royals picking up an early wicket, that wicket being Mohammad Hafeez for just four. Hafeez was caught at mid-on off the bowling of Munaf Patel.

There is some rain around so we may not see the high scores we have experience earlier in the tournament. The rain means that the Duckworth-Lewis method may come into play later in the game.

1/12 in the 3rd over.

Kolkata Knight Riders XI: Salman Butt, Mohammad Hafeez, *SC Ganguly, DJ Hussey, DB Das, LR Shukla, +WP Saha, AB Agarkar, I Sharma, AB Dinda, Umar Gul

Rajasthan Royals XI: GC Smith, SA Asnodkar, YK Pathan, SR Watson, M Kaif, RA Jadeja, *SK Warne, Sohail Tanvir, +M Rawat, SK Trivedi, MM Patel

Re: IPL Game 44 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata

Munaf Patel gets wicket number two getting Salman Butt LBW for 24. 2/40 after six overs, David Hussey is the new batsman.

Another crucial wicket, Yusuf Pathan fires in a quicker and beats David Hussey all ends up.

3/72 from 12 overs. Ganguly on 27.

Re: IPL Game 44 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata

Tridevi gets Ganguly. Sourav backs away but ends up hitting the ball stright to Mohammad Kaif at ling-on.

4/95 now, Kolkata will need a big boost towards the end.

Re: IPL Game 44 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata

Sohail Tanvir gets two wickets in one over, removing Das for 31 and Shukla for 15.

6/123 after 18 overs.

Re: IPL Game 44 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata

Agarkar is caught ball watching and is run out. Spent too much time watching the ball and Jadeja's throw was too good.

7/136 from 19 overs. Saha gets off the mark with a six!!

Re: IPL Game 44 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata

Tanvir again!! This guy is a jet at Twenty20 cricket!! This time he gets his Pakistan team-mate Umar Gul out caught at long-on via the safe hands of Mohammad Kaif again.

8/142 now with three balls to go. Can they get 150?

Re: IPL Game 44 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata

Nope, no 150 but they get 8/147, not bad but it could be better. Ganguly top scored with 32 and Das 31 and Salman Butt's 24 rounded up the top three run scorers.

Sohail Tanvir was the pick of the bowlers with 3/26. He is proving to be a very effective Twenty20 bowler. Munaf Patel was the other multiple wicket taker with 2/22 which included a maiden.

So 148 needed for victory, this should be a good chase.

Re: IPL Game 44 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata

Big wicket! Sharma gets Asnodkar who flails at a fullish delivery but only gets an edge to the keeper.

1/16 after two overs. Graeme Smith on 11.

Tanvir is the new batsman, he may have a license to thrill!!

Re: IPL Game 44 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata

Tanvir's stay is short lived but still entertaining. Tanvir tried to blast one over the infield on the off-side but skied it to Salman Butt at mid-off.

2/42 after 5.2 overs.

Re: IPL Game 44 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata

Umar Gul gets two in one over. Smith is out now, caught after glancing down the leg-side, Saha takes an absolute beauty.

3/42 after six overs. Watson is the new batsman.

Re: IPL Game 44 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata

Ganguly bowls Watson with a beauty. Sourav gets one to cut back in, Watson plays the wrong line and the ball takes off-stump.

4/69, this game is still well and truly up for grabs.

Re: IPL Game 44 - Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals at Kolkata

Rajasthan won the game comfortably by 6 wickets with 21 balls to spare thanks to some big hitting from Yosuf Pathan who scored 48 runs off only 18 balls including five 4's and three 6's.

Disappointing for Kolkata, but i don't think Ganguly would be the best man to captain a team.
