Justin Vaughan, New Zealand Cricket's chief executive, has said that the success of the ICC World Twenty20 in South Africa could prompt the ICC to change its policy on the game and allow cricket boards to organise more such games in a year. Concerns over player burnout had forced the ICC to restrict teams from playing more than three Twenty20 games in a season and seven in a year.
