Lee out of Bangladesh ODI's, Geeves into squad

Brett Lee is out of the ODI series against Bangaldesh due to the breakdown of his marriage. Lee announced that he and wife Liz had seperated and would not play in the series against the Bangladesh squad, starting at the end of this month in Darwin.

Brett Geeves, the Tasmanian fast bowler will replace Lee in the Australian squad. Geeves was the leading wicket-taker in the Ford Ranger Cup (Australia's domestic one-day competition) with 15 wickets at 25.20. Geeves was Man of the Match in the FR Cup Grand Final, taking 3/28 in the one wicket win over Victoria.

Bad news about Lee, hopefully he can sort things out with Liz. It gives Geeves a chance though, a little surprised he was picked ahead of Noffke and Bollinger who have done everything right. They will be headed on the Australia "A" tour to India though.

Will be a weakened line-up for the Aussies, no Lee, no Ponting, Hayden very doubtful, the fringe players will get their opportunity here.

Australian Squad (as at 20th August 2008): Michael Clarke (capt), Michael Hussey (vice-capt), Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark, Brett Geeves, Brad Haddin (wk), Matthew Hayden, James Hopes, David Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Shaun Marsh, Andrew Symonds, Shane Watson, Cameron White

Ronchi to come in for Haydon ?

Perhaps. Although that would mean we'd have two keepers. If Hayden doesn't play, then Watson will probably open.

True. I was just thinking as opening bat, not keeper. But Watto probably do it yeah.
