Mombasa Tri-Series Match 4: Kenya v Scotland

About to get underway from Mombasa, Kenya can pretty well wrap things up with a win in this one. Scotland will be looking for revenge after being embarassed earlier in the week.

Kenya have won the toss and will bat first.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 4: Kenya v Scotland

Bizarre start to Kenya's innings:
0/12 off the first 2 overs, but only 1 run from the bat.
Lots of leg byes which should give the Scotland bowlers some encouragement.

Interesting to see Scotland have gone with 3 spinners this time.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 4: Kenya v Scotland

Looks like the Kenyan batsmen are starting off on fire again, 51-0 after 7.1 overs.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 4: Kenya v Scotland

Scotland are really being their own worst enemy here.
Extras are already on 17 including 7 wides and a no-ball. They have to be more disciplined than this at ODI level.
Obuya seems to be enjoying himself again so far 31 off 35 after 9.
Ouma has faced fewer and is on 13 off 19, almost a decent score for him going on recent form. Hope this is the match he gets into decent figures.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 4: Kenya v Scotland

Scotland fighting back.
First Ouma is run out for 14 (another start and another failure to turn it into a big score from him)
Then David Obuya is LBW to Brown who gets some revenge for the stick he took in his first spell.
The two veterans at the crease. A key partnership for Kenya.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 4: Kenya v Scotland

A key partnership that produced all of 1 run.
Tikolo LBW bowled Nel for a duck. His second failure in two matches a concern with the WCL just a week away.
Kenya have had a mini collapse going from 0/67 to 3/73!
:(

Mishra also out for a duck.
Again LBW, this time to Brown.
Scotland definitely back in this match and giving Kenya some serious trouble.
4/75

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 4: Kenya v Scotland

Great effort by my man Odoyo and Ravi Shah taking the total to 9/250 off their 50. Shah made a blasting 113 from 121, his return has really boosted this team. Odoyo steadied the ship when wickets were falling all around Shah, Scotland taking 5-23 in 6 overs, and Odoyo made a solid 39 off 64 balls to play second fiddle to the rampant Shah. Doug Brown was the best of the Scotland bowlers claiming 3-37.

Scotland have only just started their innings, they are 0-2 off 5 balls. Odoyo taking the new ball to Majid Haq and Fraser Watts.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 4: Kenya v Scotland

Scotland off to a solid start chasing 260 for victory.
they are 0/28 after 6.

I'm not quite sure why Odhiambo took the 3rd over. It cost 12 runs and effectively let the pressure off. He looks as though it caught him by surprise.

Thankfully, Odoyo is back with the ball, so it can't have been serious. Maybe an experiment that didn't work?

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 4: Kenya v Scotland

Scotland came very close to winning this one. And at one point, I'm sure they thought they were going to win.

Chasing 260, Scotland were in good shape at 217-3. But three straight wickets dropped them to 217-6, and then they lost to more at 226-8. Tikolo was the man who took #'s 4, 5, and 6, breaking Scotland's confidence.

They finished up at 253-8, just 6 runs short of Kenya's total.

Far better than the first match, but surely a major disappointment to come out of this one with a loss instead of a win.

Re: Mombasa Tri-Series Match 4: Kenya v Scotland

A great result from Kenya considering that Scotland really should have won this after the platform provided by their openers.
Great efforts from shah with the bat to take Kenya to 259, then awesome performance from Tikolo to take those 4 wickets.
Both these are personal bests and continue the trend started against Canada last year.
