More Pace!

More Pace!

As some know i want to be a wicket keeper, but i also think it is important to be able to bowl quite well. I'm a Left Arm Over bowler, i get it to swing well but i lack for pace. this lack of pace is the only problem with my bowling.I sprint my medium run up but stutter around the umpire.
Any ideas of how to get pace??

Re: More Pace!

Getting rid of the stutter would be a start. Try setting off from the bowling crease and run backwards (as in away from the pitch) until you feel like bowling, then get a friend to mark where your front foot lands and measure the distance in normal walking paces.

A video of your bowling would help, if you could get one.

In terms of places to check out, this thread would be a start: http://www.simplycricket.net/how-to-bowl-quicker-useful-links-t2151.0.html

Re: More Pace!

The stutter is due to a poorly marked out run up.

As jbz says, work out your run up using the method described above as this should give you a starting point. Of course you will still need to work on it but it should help to cut out the stutter. Also, don't forget to have one last look at the popping crease before you get into the delivery stride to help make sure everything is where you want it to be.

As for picking up pace, check out the link above and then ask away.
