Need advice

I am 16 and i bowl a good pace around 70+ i am not very big and i was wondering if anyone could advice me on what i should be eating and a good trainning routine so that i can pass the 80pmh speeds and get into my county team.

How tall are you (m) and how much do you weigh (kg)?

Do you attend a gym?
Are you participating in 'fitness' during PE? If so, what does your fitness suite contain?

out of interest- how do you know your 70? im not doubting you but would like to know how you got tested- was it a speed gun?

iv got one of those hand held speed guns made by bushnell but im not 2 sure how accurate they are sometimes it will come up with a high number that didnt look quick and vice versa.

i am 6ft and last time i checked i was about 9 stone but ill have to check again as that may not be right, im definitely thin

as for the 70 mph thing im not even sure if i do bowl that lol, i may only be bowling 40 or something its just what i have been told.
Ill try get an accurate measurement next trainning i have.

One thing for sure, we do need to put some muscle on you :D

What do you think your nutrition is like at the moment?

Although you have not really worried about it, it may not be too bad. If you would like me to have a look at it, write a seven day food diary including everything, drink, snacks etc and I shall have a look.

Do you play any other sport?

Okay ill try get a diary done.
I dont play any other sports really and i dont attend a gym , but i am starting to do small exercises each day so i can build up some more power e.g doing pressups and lifting dumbells.I think my main poblems is that i have a fast metabolism i eat loads and i never really gain wheight.

if u want protein, go to ur local fitness store and ask them, They will probably suggest some thing called Whey its good protein just mix with milk an voila protein

While im recording my meals each day what exercises do you reccomend me doing in order to build up some muscel?

and yes i do have an obsession with muller corners there lush.
and i tend to skip lunch alot as i can never be bothered to make it.

oh and for exercises i was doing
40 pressups
30 squats
50 5kg dumbells lift
20 of these wrist lifts with 2.5 kg dumbells
then 30 more pressups
60 crunches
30 situps
20 sqauts
then 50 more dumbells lifts 30 pressups and 20 squats
all these spaced out from when i get back from school
could you help me decide on a better routine that will focus on what i need please.

First I will repost what I told you via PM about your diet:


OK the simple short answer is you are eating too much processed food and not enough whole real food. This is not supplying with with enough energy for optimum performance. If you want to bowl fast you need to be healthy.

You are filling your body with high sugar foods that your body can't use for energy and not getting enough vitamins and minerals for you body to function at it's best. In short you are eating your way to failure.

Now I would not expect you to suddenly change everything, but if you want to give yourself a chance to get to the top you have to make some changes . I would recommend doing one at a time to make it easier:

Start with this one:

* Do you buy your own food? If not tell whoever does you want to eat healthier and can they stop buying you processed food and buy healthy stuff instead.

This is what 'healthier' means:

* Increase the amount of natural vegetables you eat. You need to be eating 5-10 portions a day of veg alone. If you don't like veg, then get to like it ;)
* Get your protein from natural sources like chicken breast, beef, eggs, nuts, turkey breast, milk, cheese, cottage cheese, pork and lamb.
* Eat more fresh fish for the omega 3.
* If you don't like fresh fish start taking an omega 3 tablet with every meal (or do both).
* Get your carbs from natural sources not stuff that comes in a shiny packet: Wholemeal bread, brown rice, potatoes, quinoa, wholemeal pasta, kidney beans, chickpeas and other beans.
* Eat more fat, it's good for you. Get it from healthy sources like mixed nuts, avocado, olive oil, fresh fish, linseeds (or flax seeds) and natural peanut butter.
* Cut back (or cut out) the coke. If you are thirsty drink water.

The basic rule is simple: Eat plenty of natural whole food that grew in the ground or on a plant and cut back (or cut out) anything processed from a packet and made in a factory.
