Pakistan's Shoaib Malik returns home to ill father
FAISALABAD, Jan 22, 2006(Reuters)
Pakistan allrounder Shoaib Malik has rushed home to see his father, who is in a coma, and may be unable to take further part in the second test against India.
A Pakistan team official told Reuters on Sunday that Malik had returned to his hometown Sialkot.
"His father's condition is very critical and Malik was distraught and wanted to return home immediately to be with him. His father is suffering from various illness and is in a coma," the official said.
He said it was unlikely that Malik would be able to return to play in the test which has three days to run.
"He has taken permission from the team management and since he is under great mental stress it was thought best to allow him to return home."
Pakistan has also lost captain Inzamam-ul-Haq due to a back problem. He has been told to rest for six days.
