Perfect bowling action

Hi i just want to know what peopl think of as being the perfect bowling action. SO we'll try i'll name some one , argue my cause...then the next person rates my bowlers action out of ten, then this person will name someone, argue there reason...and so on.

So,

Glenn McGrath- as he always bowled tall, swung it both ways, and always looked fluent when bowling

Re: Perfect bowling action

I'd give him 7.9/10. He had a very natural action but I always felt he could have been a bit pacier. He struck me as being stuck in the crease at times.

Brett Lee - pretty much perfect from a bio-mechanical viewpoint.

Re: Perfect bowling action

Brett Lee = almost perfection..about 98% correct. Allan Donald even closer at 99%.

Re: Perfect bowling action

What do Lee/Donald lack?

In my opinion - perfection lies in Allan Donald's action.

I'd be interested to know what members think of Brett Lee's claim that Thommo had the best bowling action and that he is miffed as to why such an action is not widely taught. I have been watching clips of Thommo and it would seem that his action and strength alone generated natural pace of about 90mph without a great deal of effort. I cannot say that it is 'perfect' though as Liz may point out that it is destined for injury or Ponty may point out that he is a genetic freak - but his approach is certainly interesting. Unlike Malinga, who slings it unlike any other, Thommo merely seems to modify the commonly accepted side on action in a unique way.

I'd give him more than that. From his high back knee drive (rather than forward) and shortish delivery stride - one might think that he chose accuracy and bounce over pace whereas he could have had quite good accuracy and greater pace had he had a more agressive approach to the wicket...

Mcgrath: 8.5/10.

what about murali?

Looks natural for him?

Yeah lol- his action is pretty much perfect for him- cant see how changing his action will make him bowl better

Re: Perfect bowling action

What do people think of Liam Plunkett's action? He seems to go in straight lines toward the batsman.
