Saturday cricket fielding

When I play sataday cricket and field for a few hours my legs tend to get tired and ache, is there anything i can do to help this i.e. training ?

Cheers.

Re: Saturday cricket fielding

Hi Liam09 and welcome.

There are a lot of ways to address this issue but first:

How many overs are you playing during these matches?
What level are you playing?
How old are you?
How do these matches differ from your district matches?

Re: Saturday cricket fielding

I'm in the same sort of position except it tends to be my knee.

It is fine to start with but after I've chased down a couple of balls I get a pain in my knee.

Any advice for me?

Most probably postmanpav but I would need to know more.

Which knee?
Where in the knee?
Does it come on after a particular movement?
Are you a pace bowler?
Does it make any difference whether you field first or second?
How old are you?

It's in the right knee, couldn't really say were in the knee tbh and it usually starts up after a bit of running.

I'm a pace bowler and no it doesn't usually make a difference when I field.

15 by the way.

Re: Saturday cricket fielding

Depending on where in the knee you feel the pain, it could be caused by biomechanical malfunction of either your bowling action or your running. It could also be caused by growth spurt.

Next time you feel the pain, try to pinpoint it eg Is it just below the knee cap? Is it right inside the centre of the knee? Is it towards the outside of the knee? etc.
