South Africa vs. India 1st ODI [R]

It's raining in Johannesburg, so the 1st ODI may not start in time at all. Even if it starts, time to get the Duckworth Lewis software spreadsheets out?

P.S. For the record, I'm not a fan of Duckworth Lewis at all, but realize it as necessary evil.

Sounds like rain is a real possibility. Too bad.

I'm of the opinion that South Africa are a pretty good 20/20 team, so it seems to me that the more overs that are lost to rain, the more this ODI will turn into a boundary-hitting contest, and the more that will favor the South Africans. Anyone agree or disagree?

Yeah, this match will turn into a 20/20 contest if at all it takes place.

It is still raining as we speak, with the match start pushed out.

Still raining here at Johannesburg (pouring in fact). I doubt we will see any play today.

Well according to cricinfo the game is cancelled due the rain, which is forcast to continue for the whole week.

India's tour of South Africa got off to the dullest possible start as the first one-dayer at the Wanderers in Johannesburg was abandoned without a single ball being bowled. Torrential rains drenched the stadium all day and, when they finally abated just before 7pm local time, the groundstaff began mopping up operations. As soon as they contemplated removing the covers, though, the skies opened once more and put an end to the waiting and the uncertainty. If the raiin does continue, it may affect the Holland vs Bermuda game. :(
