Tea scenario

Imagine you've just had a hard, long innings in the field at an away ground...your sitting in the changing rooms and all you can be bothered to think about is "Whats for tea". Tell us all what deep down in your hearts ( and stomach) what you really want to see on the table and what you are likly to grab?

I always (like) want there to be spicy chicken wings :D and a good selection of pies.

I always grab a good handful of scones with cream and jam on and a nice, sugary cuppa in the other :embarrassed:

Re: Tea scenario

What I want crusty cheese roll with a big lump of strong cheddar and sliced italian tomatoes with raw garlic and a dash of white pepper.

what you get - Sticky white bread with fish paste and if I'm lucky mini chocolate swiss rolls

Re: Tea scenario

Any form of pasta suits me, plus a few other nibbles. Depends on the weather if it's hot or cold though.

Generally, as Dave says we get cheese sandwiches, some kind of meat sandwich, fish paste, crisps, cake and some kind of chocolate bar. If you're playing in the 3rds then add jelly and ice cream to that list!

Re: Tea scenario

We play matches in the evening, we usually get boring sandwiches but usually a great selection of fruit, too. I never eat the sandwiches, never been a big fan.

Re: Tea scenario

m8 i have a pretty good diet... but after a long hard game nothing calls 4 me more then greasy/fatty foods......

kfc, chinese (mongolian lamb with boiled rice and prawn crackers), a good meat pie or a burger..... any of that or anything along thos lines would do me fine... followed by chocky and other sweet stuff.

Re: Tea scenario

We're pretty lucky in that we have the manager of a local bar as one of our captains. He sorted a deal out with the club where they get trays of sandwiches at cost - great selection and they're bloody nice !!

It was funny the first week though - we took the wrapping off the trays of sandwiches and the chef at the bar had put a few pieces of brown bread on top of the sandwiches ... brown bread with smoked salmon and caviar!!!

That's some step up from rubbery bread with processed cheese.

Thanks Phil! You're after getting us in trouble now. :cry

might have to go home and eat a pint of ice cream to cheer myself up now - a diet ruined!!!

;)

Re: Tea scenario

David - it's out of our hands!!! We can't dictate what the poor old bloke who does the catering serves up - there's a cost implication as well!

Besides I love a cheese sandwhich and I'm probably one of the slimmest and fittest in the team and have a look at the "What have you got in yer lunchbox" thread - after eating that all week and good old crusty cheese snadwhich would be lovely!!!!

Pretty much spot on but in saying that there is normally a reasonable budget there. Most clubs around here charge their own players about £3 per match for tea and the opposing side about £27.50 - £33. At worst there is about £40/50 in the kitty so they should be able to do something with that.

Re: Tea scenario

I was reading the new Davids new article about mental preperation and in one of the links I saw this:
"6 Reward yourself. Psychologists call this ‘extrinsic motivation’. It means rewarding yourself for training hard, for example; promising yourself a new DVD if you train without fail for a month. Itdoes work but it can be counter productive in some cases so handle with care (i.e. great workout, lets go to McDonalds!)"

It reminded me of a [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaS1xQvQEKg]video[/ame] I saw on Youtube recently. I bet nobody's teas are that bad

Re: Tea scenario

I don't eat cricket teas but I love making them. Problem is, I love baking; victoria sandwich, shortcake, chocolate cake, ginger cake, fruit cake, scones, flapjacks, all sorts of biscuits and of course welsh cakes... call myself a nutritionist? Of course, all made from the best ingredients, for example, the flapjacks are made from superfood muesli.

As for savoury, chicken drumsticks or kebabs with pineapple or red peppers, smoked or poached salmon, peppered mackerel, devilled eggs, humus and sandwiches made from a variety of seeded, oat, granary bread: brie and walnuts, stilton and apricots, tuna and salsa, avocado and bacon, marmite and watercress(!)

Not forgetting the fruit salad and bunches of bananas :D

Just popping to the kitchen for a little something

Re: Tea scenario

I must admit I do enjoy a good tea, especially after 50 overs of keeping wicket.

I was thinking about bringing my own this summer though. I mean, tea is the most important meal in performance terms.
