Training Logs

If you train regularly, or want to start, have you considered posting a training log?

That way you can track your progress over time and get feedback and support from other cricketers who work out.

All you need to do is post a new thread with details of your training and your goals.

It would be great to see the members of this community improve over time thanks to good training and nutrition and of course I'll always be on hand to help out.

Re: Training Logs

That is a great idea and one I've never thought of before.

I may start a training blog as I need to lose a few pounds and it'd be good to have a record of my progress.

Cheers for the idea!

Re: Training Logs

An option for the training logs can be found at the top of the screen under the tab marked 'Blog'.

This will allow you start your very own simplycricket blog and maybe use it as a training log!

Re: Training Logs

I'd go so far as to say anyone who doesn't have one doesn't really want to get any better ;)

Thanks for the heads up - I've started one. Now I just have to stick to it!

Re: Training Logs

David is this the Training Log zone? Do you want us to record what we're doing in here or create a new thread? Don't know if you've noticed but I've reinstated the madness that was and still is the MPAfirsteleven - I just can't help myslef even though there's little chance of a ressurection, but there's a glimmer of hope and 25-30 Asian blokes that play really informal cricket on a playing field here in Essex during the summer that just need to take it one step further and we've got the potential for some real cricket! So that's my mission - get these bloke to form a team and play against us or somehow I become involved in what they're doing and get them to take the next step.

Re: Training Logs

Just to further what someblokecalleddave has said. What do we put in these logs? Cricket specific training or everything from gym sessions to nutrition?

Re: Training Logs

To answer both your questions you can use the blog feature which you'll find at the top of the page.

As for what to put in them, then it is pretty much anything you like. You can keep it just to cricket or you can use them for your whole fitness plans.

Check out the blog started by David or forum member, manee, for further ideas.

I'm sure David will also give you some ideas when he's next on.

Re: Training Logs

Bonkers, I've just sussed this out (Although I just seem to have written about 3000 words and it doesn't seem to have appeared), along the top of the page here there's a link "Blog" click on that and it appears David wants you to create your own training log in a blog. Looks like a diary kind of thing detailing your approach to training, practice and diet. I'm in agreement with him - if you are serious you should record what you do and look back at it and reflect on it and share the exprerience with other people. It's a very useful exercise I reckon in self evaluation. I'm going to be doing it I reckon.

Dave

If you look at the top of the box where you type you should, see an option to 'publish blog' check that and your blog will appear.

Also, I'd love to know more about the MPAfirsteleven story.

Re: Training Logs

If you've got the time and the inclination check it out www.mpafirsteleven.blogspot.com read the first bit that comes up regarding rolling the wicket you'll either think I'm straight out of the local mental asylum or you'll get it and probably smile!

No - I've just had a look at it again and I can't see anything. As I tried to post the entry I had a thing come up saying I'd timed out. I logged back in again and it seems through that process the entry seems to have disappeared into cyber space?

Re: Training Logs

I did read that post and I have to say I admire your dedication (and think you're a bit loony :p).

Fair play though, I wish more people were that keen to play cricket.

That's unfortunate, your session might have timed out if you had selected a short duration for your login. Most browsers do preserve the text if you go back so that you could copy and post it again.

As much as you want to monitor. The trick is to track what you are doing so you can see improvements.

Re: Training Logs

 I was looking through these today. A spate of them appeared last November when this thread started but there don't seem to be many still active. I hope the associated training regimes didn't go the same way ;)

Any chance people could ressurect them to let us know how the season goes (at least in the northern hemisphere where it's soon to start)? And our friends down south can show us how their winter training is going?
