Wa Vs Qld Result ?

Wa Vs Qld Result ?

i am the only person who is troubled to see how wa lost this one when in fact they were 40 runs ahead

QLD 3/158 off 32.3 overs
WA 8/190 off 30 overs (chasing 193 wtf)
usually the D/L method reduces the overs AND THE SCORE but in this case it gave wa less overs and a higher score

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHY

During Queensland's innings there were rain delays which prevented all 50 overs from being bowled. Because Queensland's innings finished at an abnormal amount of overs (32.3), the Duckworth/Lewis method was used to calculate a score that WA would have to chase. This was most likely used using the concept that WA had lost zero wickets (as they were 0/0 off 0 overs) but the revised target would have to be more than 153.

The Duckworth/Lewis method favours teams that have lost few wickets and because of this, the revised target is less inflated that what it would be had WA started their innings and lost a few wickets.

On this occasion, WA's revised target was set at 193 off 30 overs but alas they didn't get there.

That's correct. The Duckworth/Lewis system reduces the amount of overs for the team batting second to chase. On this occasion, the D/L method gave WA 30 overs to chase down the target.

On most occasions, the D/L method will give the team batting second more runs to chase with less overs remaining. It is just how the sysytem works. As mentioned earlier, the D/L method is kinder to teams that have lost fewer wickets at the time of the delay in the chase.

makes a bit more sense now but the D/L method can be quite dodgy
