All the warmups are over, and it's time to get down to the matches! This one had to be moved up by a day, to avoid a conflict with a religious holiday, so we get cricket earlier than we thought we would. Kenya come in as one of the favourites to win the tournament, and will be playing on their home ground. Bermuda are pegged by many to be at the bottom of the table at the end of the tournament, but they are confident that they are being underestimated.

Match to begin: January 29, 2007 - 06:30 GMT

Weather: Cloudy with sunny breaks, 27C(80F)

Kenya XV: Steve Tikolo (captain), Thomas Odoyo (vice-captain), Ravindu Shah, Tanmay Mishra, Collins Obuya, Peter Ongondo, Nehemiah Odhiambo, Maurice Ouma, Malhar Patel, Hiren Varaiya, David Obuya, Rajesh Bhudia, Jimmy Kamande, Tony Suji, Lameck Onyango

Bermuda XV: Irving Romaine (captain), Dean Minors (vice-captain), Clay Smith, Stephen Outerbridge, OJ Pitcher, David Hemp, Janeiro Tucker, Lionel Cann, Malachi Jones, Delyone Borden, Saleem Mukuddem, Kevin Hurdle, Dwayne Leverock, Stefan Kelly, Arthur Pitcher Jr.

Bermuda batting first.

Odoyo takes the first wicket of the competition, getting Clay Smith for a duck.

Re: WCL Match 1: Kenya v Bermuda @ Nairobi

Romaine out now too

Bermuda 35-2 after 9 overs

Re: WCL Match 1: Kenya v Bermuda @ Nairobi

Bermuda all out for 133 after 39.3 overs.
Dean Minors scored 52, Peter Ongondo took 3 wickets.

In reply, Kenya was 137-0 after 18.1 overs!!
Maurice Ouma with a personal ODI best of 57* and David Obuya with another personal ODI best of 74*.

Could it possibly have been any easier for Kenya?

Hopefully that's the biggest rout we'll see all tournament long.

Another knock for Bermuda, just when their confidence level was starting to rise. Kenya was always going to be a tough one, howeverI hope they could put this behind them and concentrate on their next game. Congratulations to Kenya on a blowout win.

1-not so good batting for bermuda

2- even worse bowling by bermuda

3- i hope, but lets see what canada can do.

Iggy, man, why you gotta hate on Canada?

Recently, they have beaten Kenya, and lost to the Netherlands and Scotland in the last over of the match - to me they are a competitive team! Now I agree that they are probably not as good as the European sides, but I see no indication that they will suffer as embarassing a defeat as this was.

Looking forward to the match tonight!

is that recently, will? admittedly i have not been as much up to date as i would like, but i really don't think canada or bermuda have much of a chance.

Re: WCL Match 1: Kenya v Bermuda @ Nairobi

Well they beat Kenya and almost beat Scotland last week. The Netherlands matches were in the fall, but Canada were missing Davison then. I would put them easily ahead of Bermuda, and I think they will beat at least one of the other teams.

Re: WCL Match 1: Kenya v Bermuda @ Nairobi

I know Bermuda is at the bottom of food chain right now, but they have the potential and talent. Somehow it never seems to break through when it really matters. However there is still hope

Re: WCL Match 1: Kenya v Bermuda @ Nairobi

will, i won't be to fast to put canada before bermuda, bermuda has beaten canada time n time again so i won't be suprise if bermuda beats canda again
