Two teams who have designs on a finals berth meet here in the first round of the WCL and a win will be vital to either sides chances in the tournament. When they met late last year, The Netherlands came out on top, but just barely. With Canada returning to full force, they will be a much tougher side than they were then.

Match to begin: January 30, 2007 - 06:30 GMT

Weather: Cloudy with Sunny Breaks, 24C (75F)

Canada XV: John Davison, George Codrington, Qaiser Ali, Ashish Bagai, Umar Bhatti, Desmond Chumney, Austin Codrington, Anderson Cummins, Sunil Dhaniram, Sundeep Jyoti, Don Maxwell, Ashif Mulla, Henry Osinde, Abdool Samad, Kevin Sandher

Netherlands XV: Luuk van Troost, Jeroen Smits, Peter Borren, Daan van Bunge, Ryan ten Doeschate, Mark Jonkman, Muhammad Kashif, Alexei Kervezee, Tim de Leede, Adeel Raja, Darron Reekers, Edgar Schiferli, Billy Stelling, Eric Szwarczynski, Bas Zuiderent

That may be, but you know cricket, there is always a chance of an upset. Somehow I think Canada will provide us with one :)

Rod Lyall will be covering this match on CricketEurope, and I know my eyes will be glued to it. I'm also going to be posting my thoughts on my blog, if anyone cares to have a look. Also if anyone has any good recipes for living on no sleep for a week, I'd be interested.

Re: WCL Match 2: Canada v Netherlands @ Nairobi

Canada had won the toss and elected to bat. Canada reached a total of 200 runs in their allotted 50 overs.

Highest scorer: A. Bagai 74 runs

Highest wicket takers; ten Doeschate (4 w) & W.F Stelling (3w)
that's it in a nutshell

May be difficult for Canada to defend this score though. But I'm hopeful they could pull an upset.

Is anyone having trouble with Cricket Europe? can't seem to bring up their site.

Yep, looks like it's down.

Re: WCL Match 2: Canada v Netherlands @ Nairobi

It's back

Netherlands 0/10 off 3ov

Re: WCL Match 2: Canada v Netherlands @ Nairobi

Netherlands are now 51 for 10 after 9 overs.

Re: WCL Match 2: Canada v Netherlands @ Nairobi

Netherlands 100-1 after 17 overs.

Unless the wickets start faling quickly, Canada doesn't have a chance to defend this total.

Re: WCL Match 2: Canada v Netherlands @ Nairobi

Netherlands 152-2 after 27 overs.

They only need 49 more runs. Frankly, it would take a collapse of colossal proportions for the Dutch not to win from here. They seem to have this one in the bag.

Re: WCL Match 2: Canada v Netherlands @ Nairobi

Cummins comes back on to bowl and now Netherlands are 166-2 after 28.

Y R Kanadien selektorz so stoopit? Kant thay c Cummins psuks?
