Which group do you think is the group of death?

For me it is group C containing England, New Zealand, Kenya and Canada

I think this is the toughest group because England have improved from last years World Cup leave aside post Ashes victory in 2005, New Zealand are also one of the most dangerous sides in ODIs then you would not want to count out Kenya and Canada who performed really well in the last World Cup when Kenya reached the semi-finals and also beat Sri Lanka on the way and Canada they beat Bangladesh and also pushed West Indies to the limit in a group game.

Re: Which group do you think is the group of death?

England's current ODI form has been very subpar. It would be a good battle between them and NZ for the first spot, but then again, the top 2 make it to the next round.
As for Kenya and Canda, i'd like to see Canada put up a good fight. we'll have a proper idea of Canada after the world league 1 completes in february.

Re: Which group do you think is the group of death?

Having seen Kenya and Canada first hand, I think they both can give anybody a run, given the right circumstances. Both have batsmen who can score runs in bunches and bowlers who can shut the opposition down. Obviously they will still be huge underdogs in any of their matches, but there's a chance of something fun happening. Enough for me to pay-per-view the matches, anyway.

Kenya could probably beat England's current one day side.

as bad as England's ODI current form is, you really think that Kenya could pull off a mega-upset like that?

Re: Which group do you think is the group of death?

Right now, I'll vote for Group B, with Sri Lanka, India, and Bangladesh. Bangladesh have beaten both recently, and I feel this group has the biggest chance for one of the top 8 not to make it through.

That said, people might change their minds about any "group of death" after the WCL Division 1 tournament in January. Whichever team proves themselves to be the top Associate side might merit changing their group to the "group of death". Especially if it's Ireland.

No, but wouldn't it be funny? :p

England can't beat any teams of significance, they'll beat the minors but don't stand a chance against the likes of Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, etc.

With the current form of India and Sri Lanka, I'd be willing to put money on to say that Bangladesh will finish at the top of this group.

Get on it :thumbsu:

Sri Lanka has a record of 4-2 in the 2006 Champions Trophy. Including wins over New Zealand and West Indies, 2 of the 4 semifinalists. I think you guys are writing them off far too easily.
