Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

Back to Mumbai for this game, the killer pitch in action once again. It's been a bowler's paradise so far, will that trend continue or will it suddenly swing toward the batsman?

West Indies were poor in their game against Sri Lanka, being bundled out for 80 and were comprehensively belted by 9 wickets. Australia has had some good form coming into the tournament, a tournament they are yet to win. Can their DLF Cup form contnue or will West Indies be able to match them like they did in the recent tri-series?

We could be set for a great game.

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

Shiv pulled out ill just before the start and McGrath didn't take the new ball.

Are they playing for a draw?

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

66-4 Brain Lara and r morton is battinG

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

124-4 after 32.

A very good partnership between Lara and Morton. They need to keep it up for another 8-10 overs though.

It's interesting to compare the expressions on Morton and Lara out there. Morton looks okay, but Lara looks like the heat is really getting to him.

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

Morton just got his half century. 141-4, 35 overs.

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

182-4 after 42, Lara with his half century too, the best ever 5th wicket partnership for West Indies against Australia, now worth more than 119

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

Lara out for 71. It was obvious that he wanted to either hit a boundary or just get out and go back and sit down. Frankly, I thought he was going to have to give up for a while there, he was really looking to be in bad shape. There were a few balls where he was really hunched over after running.

200-5 after 44.2

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

And they end up with 234.

Could be a tricky chase for us tonight... depends a lot on the start we get, I guess.

Entertaining stuff by the Windies, though... good stuff.

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

West Indies finish 234/6

Morton with 90 not out. Superb partnership with Lara. This should be a competitive total. Nice to see Clarke get to bowl 5 overs.

Interesting stat that no one has ever scored an ODI century at this ground. I wonder if someone from Australia will try to change that. I think Morton was disappointed that he wasn't able to reach a century.

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

Good start from Taylor and Bradshaw, as they've each got a wicket so far, and have threatened to pick up more.

Australia are 28-2 after 6.

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

58-3 after 14

shaping up to be a close match

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

Gayle bowls Symonds, and then does a hopscotch celebration dance.

Australia 81-4 after 20

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

Australia now 152/4 after 34.6 overs

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

152-4 after 35.

Good partnership between Clarke and Gilchrist. They keep getting runs, and West Indies haven't picked up any more wickets. With Hussey still to come, the Australians certainly have the upper hand right now.

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

with 14 overs to go, it will be interesting to see if Windies are able to defend their total.

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

What set these guys off? Why are they so intent on yapping at each other?

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

Gilchrist run out for 92
Australia 182-5

Gayle looked pretty happy that he was involved in that run out.

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

203-5

they need 32 from 30 balls

Re: Champions Trophy - Australia vs West Indies at Mumbai (BS)

Hussey lucky to still be out there, he could've been caught twice.

Bravo gets Clarke on the first ball of the next over!

206-6

Australia need 29 from 23 balls.
