Cricket Albury/wodonga

Got a funny feeling we won't be hearing from Craig on here again!!

Good luck for the season BigBird! Hope the Hawks have plenty of wins this year.

Well, im not really sure what this website is or forum whatever it may be. People making up things to try and make themselves more important than they actually are, or one person anyway.
I am the Captain of the Barooga CC and i have been for the last 4 years now. So i am assuming the previous things written are about me.
I woke up this morning to txt msgs off a friend from Albury-Wodonga, saying that maybe i should check this site out.
So here i am.

Whoever you are "Craig Matthews" i have no idea who you are or where you get your information from..... or how and why you know so many things about me.

Its sad really.

Sure i have spoken to cricket clubs from the area as i have for the past 5 seasons...
Never met with any or sat down for a chat, nor got to the point as to what "my needs" were... as you were implying, money. TOTALLY NOT TRUE AT ALL.
With my partner living in the albury area im sure that one day the move will happen. As yes, it did with football this year.
But it is not going to be brought forward by some nobody that is sitting behind a keyboard making up lies.

Thats all ive got to say....

All the best to everyone involed in the association.
Im sure we will meet in the rep stuff again this year...
Cheers
Are you coaching in the Tallangatta league or sticking with Saints though?:)

A word of advice Big Bird. If you want to have two users names so that you can talk yourself up on here you shouldn't use the term "Etc etc" in posts from both of them. Also putting .... in the middle of your sentences is a dead giveaway.

Good luck though. I'm sure someone will inbox you for your number.

Just a couple of rumours that I have heard lately, can anyone shed any light?

Any truth to the rumour that Rohan Pearce has jumped camps and is going to play for Baranduda with his mate Hayden Roberts?

Bigbird, this ones for you, I was having a yarn to a mate who tells me that you guys had organised to set up a meeting. The time, date and place was all set up, and when the time came for you to show up, you were a no show. Im not sure if you have spoken to that club since as I havent seen my mate in a while, but to not show up to a meeting shows me that you don't mind shopping yourself around?

Maybe they set up the meeting with Craig Matthews by mistake?

Some big games in round one 'bean!

My tips:

Albury vs Belvoir
St Pats vs Wodonga
Bushies vs Lavi
Easts vs Norths
I'm tipping a washout:D
P.S. When did North Albury and East Albury become Norths and Easts? I didn't think we were playing in a rugby league comp.

Funnily enough it's what happens with the letter 's' is added to the end of their respective first names. I'm not quite sure if you are up to speed with how plurals work, but that's a quick run down for you, RUNOUT :)

So true, Grey Nick.
My tips then will be Belvoirs, St.Pats', Lavis and Norths.
Also heard a rumour that Steve Wood & Gerard Midson could be retiring, as they do every year.

Just saw an article saying Tallangatta are in a charity 20/20 tournament with 2 other teams in Marysville soon.
Apparently they are raising money for black saturday victims. Bloody good effort by Tallangatta, and more clubs should do something similar.

Any news on any new recruits? I have heard st pats have picked up a couple but lost dave tassel to albury? not 100% sure on tassel can anyone confirm? albury may miss relegation again with tassel. any other movements? surely the premiership is only between st pats, lavi and wodonga. any thoughts?

Raiders seem to be the team to beat in district with the pick ups of jesse griffiths and jason merkel. I think merkel will be a pretty handy pick up and dont be surprised if he gets a tonne of wickets.
Is this the same Jason Merkel that got spanked around the park at Bethanga for years???? He must have improved a lot bowling 2 overs a week at Tallangatta.

Not sure if thats quite true, Reverse Sweeper. 84 overs, 17 maidens, 20 wickets for 263 runs! average of 13.15 and strike rate of 25.70! not sure if that is spanked around, but if it is, that makes me feel worse coz when i get spanked, they go for six! I wonder what grade and club you play for Reverse Sweeper, bit of jealousy there???

Not sure where the stats come from Mick as they're a lot different to MyCricket. Your own personal collection perhaps????

Prov ones last season was 32-3-5-62 which is hardly setting the world on fire as a specialist bowler, although will no doubt get a lot more overs this season against overall weaker batsman, so as Mick said, he should take a tonne of wickets!

Reverse sweeper, i was referring to your post about him getting 'spanked around at Bethanga'. Those stats were from when he last played at bethanga and shows that he was one of the best bowlers in the comp. even in the prov ones last year he was only getting hit for 2 runs an over. these figures prove that he is a steady and reliable bowler and with jesse griffiths being erratic as ever, I can see merkel picking up all the wickets. Anything further you want to add Reverse Sweeper, I think these figures speak for themselve?

Would think if Merkel lands them on the spot as he usually does then he will take 30 - 40 wickets. With Griffiths and Kori Stevenson operating from the other end can see Raiders having a very strong bowling attack.

Predictions for me for the season are:

Provincial - Premiers: Tallangatta Relegation: Albury
District - Premiers: Wodonga Raiders Wooden Spoon: Baranduda

Champion Players - Provincial: David Farrell (NA) District: Jesse Griffiths (WR);)

Sorry been away on holidays at Chiltern, I can highly recommend the counter meals at the local pub down there and the publican was friendly too. My reference to the spanked part was more about his total career at Bethanga not just his last year. Anyway good luck to him but I think Jesse Griffiths will be slightly more dangerous.

Looks like Runout leads the tipping after the first round :). Mind you I think it was a safe tip, given that a Round 1 washout could be considered the traditional start to the cricket season.

Also interesting (at least to me and my fellow 3rd grade players :) )to see the 3rd grade is meant to start next week and CAW have yet to release the 3rd grade draw, hopefully we will find out before Saturday who we are playing.
