Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

This could be one of the closer matches of the early part of the tournament.
It's also the best chance for an Associate to beat one of the Test nations (even if they aren't playing tests currently).

But not only is it a great chance for Ireland to introduce themselves on a world stage, it's also a good opportunity for Zimbabwe to try to get back to a winning way.

Zimbabwe have won the toss and will bowl.

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

Porterfield out for a duck in the first over.

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

A decent recovery from Morgan and Bray, but now Morgan is gone.

44-2 after 10

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

easy catch for the keeper and now Niall O'Brien is gone too!!

Ireland 44-3 after 11.
They'd better be careful here.

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

Poor decision from Botha.
He intentionally let it go past him and then it hit the stumps.

64-4 after 14.3

Ireland looking like they won't even get close to 50 overs here.

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

No one can set up a partnership with Bray it seems like,
because Kevin O' Brien is now gone too.

Ireland 89-5 after 22

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

Ireland 103-5 from 26.

Bray is up to 57.

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

White finally gone for 28.
That was their best partnership of the day. Ireland (and Bray) really needed that. Andrew White picked the right time to stick around for more than 15 overs.

145-6 after 37.3

We'll see if the rest of the Irish can follow up on that partnershp and get them to 200.

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

And here comes the rain. Looks pretty significant, but hopefully it'll just be a short little shower.

Ireland is 170-6 after 42.2

If they can bat through to the 50th over, they'll easily reach 200, but you never know how the batters and bowlers will react after this rain delay.

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

Ireland finish 221-9.

Bray finished not out with 115.
A superb innings for him, and a great recovery from the Irish.
When they were 64-4 and 89-5, I really didn't think they'd make it this far. I was just wondering if they'd get to 150, let alone 221.

Now we'll see what the Irish bowlers can do.

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

come on Ireland, another wicket or two and wrap this one up!

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe are trying to mess this up

10 runs off 14 balls with 3 wickets in hand

come in Zimbabwe!

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

9 runs off 12 balls

Zimbabwe don't want to win this one

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

Utseya out

9 runs to win off 11 balls with 2 wickets in hand

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

Matsikenyeri is set in and has the strike. he'll probably win it
