Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

4 runs off 3 balls

Rainsford is on strike though

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

arg

49.3 White to Matsikenyeri, 1 run, full toss, spooned to midwicket - but no! Dropped? The man came in and appeared to just stop in his tracks, the ball dropping short!

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

3 runs off 2 balls

Matsikenyeri back on strike

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

1 run off 1 ball with 1 wicket in hand

we have a tie at least!

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

Match Tied!

Matsikenyeri held his nerve, couldn't quite do it though, that single to Rainsford in the final over was brilliant - sort of - that single managed to keep Zimbabwe in the game

Ireland would be ecstatic with that result

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

Wow, what an amazing shocking unbelievable finish!

The next to last ball was incredible, with Jonston almost making an incredible catch, and then 2 run out chances.

Simply stunning.

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

WHAT A GAME!!!!!! I really thought Ireland was going to win. Bit pissed off cause I stayed up til 5am for a no result, but what a game!!

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

what the hell is taking cricinfo so long!

Use CricketEurope! I know I have a vested interest, but we tend to be around 4 balls ahead of them.

Also, SWEET MERCIFUL CRAP WHAT A GAME!!! I was stuck in class, but had the refresh going on my mobile. I thought it stalled out at the end, but it turns out it was a TIE!!! Unbelievable stuff.

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

And how often does a tie take place in cricket? I didn't get to see that one, but I could imagine the excitement surrounding it. Must be the most exciting game so far.

Re: Group D - Ireland v Zimbabwe

Out of 2300+ ODIs played since 1971, there have been exactly 22 ties. This is the first tie since Australia and England at Lord's on July 2, 2005.

So it's very rare, and it's freaking exciting!!!

WC had a mandate to promote cricket. If an effort had
been made to get Yanks into the stands for
how many would've gone away still thinking cricket's
a dumb, boring, game after this match? Meanwhile....boxes and boxes
of unsold Short-Short tickets pile up in Dehrings office.
