India v England: Champions Trophy

Re: India v England: Champions Trophy

And it's all over. Harbhajan Singh hits the winning runs and India gets the target total with 4 wickets and 20.3 overs to spare.

It was a tough win in the end. England put up a good fight with the ball after some terrible bowling early on. Dalrymple was superb was his off-spinners. But, the ever reliable Yuvraj Singh kept a cool head and even though wickets fell around him, he was able to grind out some runs and play the anchor role very well.

Yuvraj finished not out on 27 with Harbhajan alongside him on 6. Tendulkar hit 35 and Pathan came and went for 19. Dalrymple picked up 2/5 off 4 overs. Anderson got 2/40 and Harmison 2/34.

For the England innings, Pathan destroyed them early, snaring 2/20 with MM Patel providing great support with 3/18. Powar got 3/24 and a run-out and Harbhajan got the other wicket.

The English batting was poor and it it weren't for the batting of Pietersen, Collingwood and Dalrymple with 27, 34 and 24 respectively, England could have been all-out for under 50.

India did it tough in the end but their great bowling early ensured they'd take the points in the opening match of the Champions Trophy.

Points: India 2, England 0.

Man of the Match is Munaf Patel (3/18 off 8)

Tomorrow's Champions Trophy game is between South Africa and New Zealand.
