General Chat 12/13

It seems very, very odd to me too. I would have thought a clearance from Oakleigh would be sufficient, since the previous clearance made him an Oakleigh player.

The article makes no mention as to why the club lost points in all four grades in which they compete, including (from memory) more than six matches in the Fourth XI. Which makes "He denied the VTCA did a deep-dive investigation of all South Caulfield's registrations" a very interesting statement.
it's making a joke of a great competition, a President who is also a President of a direct competitor in that grade. A rules person who is hated by all clubs on both sides of the river and sits on everything to do with all aspects of the VTCA. For the sake of the future of cricket, both must stand down and move on, McNamara back to his mob at Hoppers as they push on to Sub DIstrict. How could the clubs allow this to happen and I believe more shit has gone down with Spotswood, it's affecting all grades and clubs that thought that they were playing finals, who didn't,even do anything wrong. Clubs that didn't deserve to be in the finals in a few grades are now in because of small admin errors.I'm not at either club, or this competition anymore, but is the talk all around cricket in Melbourne at all levels and is being watched from higher. It's a pity one of the last two Presidents couldn't take over, at least they didn't have a massive conflict.

F___ this rain...
This will cause havoc with games this weekend. And could be a deciding factor in Final 4 /and relegation for lots of clubs... Will the VTCA have the guts to call all off all grades.. Some clubs would have got their covers out early and others wouldnt, so every ground wont be on a level playing field. Not how we envisage a season to finish..

Barge any other Saturday and this weeks play would have been cancelled with the amount of rain we have had. No doubt there will be a few hard luck stories with some councils and curators already giving up on the wickets. Wonder what the VTCA will do??

There are more than two days for these grounds to dry out, let's not get too carried away with some heavy rain early in the week. I'm sure a few sides would be smiling where they've got runs on the board though.

South Caulfield to be relegated? Have the VTCA got no common sense? What a disgrace.

I stand corrected. I had checked results on Senior Div and all games drawn apart from RPB vs. Willy which was won on 1st day. Assumed the day had been called off.
Yes, it just looked like the round was called off. South Division was the same - all games drawn except for one which had been decided on the first day. Everybody had to turn up, but nobody played.

If anything the precedent is that play is not called off on the last day of the season - last year is certainly not the only time everybody has had to report to grounds for the second day of the last round with no play possible on more than 90% of grounds.

Last year play was probably likely at grounds though, it was more the fact that the drizzle and showers didnt stop during the actual time of games. Do people realise that there isn't going to be any more rain? Also wondering if the same people complaining about this are the same ones that complain when the VT calls off all play saying that play would have been able to take place.

Rumor has it that the stoush between the VTCA and Sth Caulfield is not over with Sth lodging court action on the VTCA earlier today. My understanding is that this relates to the Sth v Beaumaris decision (which has been highly criticised by many and even as far up as Cricket Victoria) and if successful, would see Beaumaris stripped of 8.03 points, moving them out of the four (at least for the time being). It would then mean Hoppers would move up to fourth spot. I wonder which hat the Hoppers / VTCA President will be wearing when the court makes their decision???

What this also means, is of course that clubs may not even know if they have made the semi-final come Saturday evening and that the top four may not be decided until late next week. Not an ideal position for any club to be in and not something I would imagine the Association is keen to have happening.

However if the decision to strip Sth of the points against Beauie is as what was written in the Herald Sun / Leader newspapers, then I think the VTCA may just be pushing the preverable up a hill!! And so if the points are reinstated to Sth and stripped from Beauie, I imagine there will be many a unhappy club with the VTCA Exec!

Stay tuned!

Its not a rumour. I believe the VTCA solicitors were served last Friday...
The whole situation has dragged its heels from when the shit occured Nov - Dec.
There was a time delay from the Tribunals decision and the VTCA exec applying its constitutional right to appeal the decision.
For the delays and the confusion SCCC is sorry for what this now means to sides battling for final 4 and relegation spots.
But we were told by a VTCA person to play the player in question vs Beauy.
Thus we feel we have been harshly treated, and believe we are right in appealing their decision.

Good drying day today with that wind
Our curator and I couldn't believe it, our wicket down at Hampton was dry enough to be cut and rolled, needless to say looks a good deck to bowl on. Hoping some others miss out on playing and we get on and have a win - should push us up the ladder a bit.

Can't believe all this stuff going on with Sth Caulfield - in my humble opinion the decision seems to be harsh and interests seem to be conflicted, observing from afar that being said. Sad to see our great comps name being dragged through the mud and now into the courts.

Bring on the finals and we can chat about what we're all here for - Playing Cricket!

Interesting to see what happens, as the courts don't like getting involved in local sporting assocations
disputes.

Spot on – they can intervene, but are reluctant to do so unless the governing body has gone against their own rules

On a related matter – anybody have an idea how much of the clubs’ money (that the VTCA has been stockpiling) has been spent on this? We as a club have been contributing to years of accumulated surpluses, and will be more than a tad disappointed if it is all being spent on what has now become a clash of egos that we have no interest in, and really, no benefit from
