Money Shield 2019/2020

what makes you think they will be back in money? strong club like that will be up there for a long time
also heard that joel thomson from rosebank is going to be playing with bu next season...whenever it starts.
By all reports ocka is finished, he's a massive loss he's 41 and was their best player. Can assure you bears batting won't hold up. The club are full of bowlers

Who are you tipping to win?

Gonna be hard for him to play in 2 grades!! Rosebank will be in Mash next season along with Rivergum... take that to the bank.

Hearing this as well, then again, hear this every year.
They are not looking at joining solely for 1st elevens. Their lower grades receive up to 30-40% walkovers every year and that is hard to keep players missing that much cricket. The 2 clubs ( 3 with BP) will be competitive upfront but all have below par junior set ups so ongoing success will rely on recruitment rather than junior development until they can get a better junior programs.

If we actually get on the track next season, there could very well be no imports for teams. I wonder how that might affect things.

Thats a great point. You would expect that Visa's would not be granted for "non essential" entry. Not only implications for DVCA but all comps. With local footy looking like not getting started there will some footy players maybe wanting to blow off some steam. Maybe we can have a one day comp finishing at Xmas for clubs to have footy players participate in before pre season starts.

Not the worst idea, OP footy club played in the one day comp and just took the piss in some games but purely didn't care and forfited games so they didn't make finals cause they would be playing footy practice matches.

Good points raised, nice to hear some cricket chat despite what is happening around everywhere. Quite a few Imports playing in all 3 shield grades so will be interested to see how it plays out. Clubs will no doubt hurt from this virus with sponsorship money to dry up, so they might not be in a position to pay anyway.

Is the talk of the 2 clubs coming over from JIKA true at all? It seems to be louder than most years. I'd say they have to start in the lowest grade like the rest of the teams coming through and work there way up.

When Rosanna/Heidelberg/Banyule came accross at the time Money was the lowest first grade at the time. All three of those clubs were more established in terms of team numbers/juniors at the time than what the R x 2 are.

Both have 100% enquired about joining DVCA. They will need to present their case to DVCA Exec and is they get past that then present to the clubs who ultimately decide. NMCA, I think is cooked. Clubs look like leaving to other associations and a few may fold. Any new clubs will need to enter via Mash. But I would think that once Mash is filled that DVCA will need a fourth Shield grade.

With all the talk of a 6 month period of "social distancing" etc, I'd say pre-seasons are well and truly gone and probably October as well. Might this be an opportunity to try a few things that otherwise the competition might not have entertained? Perhaps lower grades to play all 1 day matches and play everyone twice. Depending on how much time is left, it might be a full one day competition to get as many matches in as possible. Time will tell I guess.

12:30 starts could be another thing with one day overs increased to 45 per innings.

The 12.30 start needs to go ahead. The excuse of players working Saturday mornings has never stopped anyone missing footy.

Agree.. most teams have full teams at grounds ( even away teams) at 11.45. If someone was working allow a full sub until 1 hour after play commences. The sub is not going to be a better player than the player that is late. More likely to be a junior or higher aged player. As long as the sub is a registered player of the club should be nil issues.
