The Lounge 2

It's freezing on cold clear winter nights here in Perth now. 1C only in my suburb recently.
Cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey

The phrase originated from the use of a brass tray, called a "monkey", to hold cannonballs on warships in the 16th to 18th centuries. When it got really cold the cannon balls would slip off the brass monkey.
A great old phrase that passed the test of time til now at least. I like it.
