They have been in negotiations with the Subbies for quite some time. Still, as redefine says, finishing 3rd in Div 2 seems to me to be a long way short of Subbies standard.
So currently it looks like Port out, Dingley in, Old Mentonians playing 1 day cricket only. I have heard that DIngley...
If by "they" you mean Old Mentonians, I was told when we played them late last season that they would be playing 1 day only. (Although everybody is playing 1 day only this season.) However that was their plan then, lot of water under the bridge since then.
I see on Facebook that Darren Anderson is going to Premier Cricket. The post says: Cricket Southern Bayside comp 'dropped like a bag of spuds'. But, as always, despite being a Leader Local Cricket post you need to be a Herald-Sun subscriber to read more. I'm not going to do that. Anybody got...
With confirmation that the season won't start until November, that means I can plan for a holiday in October. Something I haven't done for more than 50 years!
Jayde Herrick played three matches in 2016/17, rounds 10, 11 and 12. Career figures with Oakleigh 2/59 off 38 overs, and 30 runs from 3 innings. I wonder how much that little cameo might have cost them?
Apologies, I must have missed one (although did notice the Masters team). It's great to hear about a burgeoning junior program - when Port were in the VTCA we played quite often, and the difficulty in getting "locals" always came up in conversation. With all the new housing in the area it is...
Port finished 3rd in CSB Division 2 (and will be playing South Caulfield 2nds in the semi-final) and as Piston Broke says, would need to improve enormously to be competitive in the Subbies. They only have 3 teams in the CSB, but may have one or more in Mercantile?
Thanks both - that makes sense, and I now understand a cryptic comment I overhead on the weekend - the curator started making a wicket, but then had to start again. Perhaps we need to put out metre high flexible fencing rather than ropes?
I chatted to a couple boys from Beena over the weekend - they tell me the pitch was wet. The curator decided to roll out a new deck but it didn't come up. The first ball of the innings left a one inch deep divot in the strip. The dog must have had a monumental weak bladder.
My Pocket Weather app suggests Moorabbin Airport 95% chance to receive 6 to 25mm. Earlier in the week the showers were all in the morning, but as you say, the current forecast is morning and afternoon. I don't think I will be needing to sharpen my pencils on Saturday.
That's what I assumed must have happened, hence my comment "if the scorecard is to be believed". My Cricket shows Bentleigh batting first, but I couldn't imagine two experienced umpires letting the game continue after the result was achieved.
Great to finally start the season! Kudos to the CSB for the flexibility to switch games between venues, resulting in 20 of the 24 possible games in the top 6 grades being played. Good to see that both new clubs had first up wins - although if the scorecard is to be believed Mordialloc's innings...
Can't believe I wrote Glen Iris! The text I quoted had Glen Eira spelled wrong and I miscorrected. Ha. But as for Glen Iris in CSB, check out the Sunday One Day Div 2 fixtures.
So with Longonman1970 hearing that Beaumaris won't get up, and Glen Iris again out of action, that would mean three of the four Championship games are in doubt.
