Actually, my question was not quite answered. The only proper "Team of the Year" was Senior Division, no mention of the lower divisions.
I also noted this statement from the VTCA President about Old Mentonians: "Having won the South Division flag in 2011/12, and then in their very first season...
Ah, you're right. I went to the web site and saw the reference to the Ganrd Final Preview, so assumed it had not been updated since the finals finished.
Thanks - question answered.
It's been a week since the VTCA Presentation night, and there's nothing on their web site listing the teams of the season, or the winners of the player of the year in the different divisions.
So who was there, and can let us know who won the awards, and who was in the different teams?
This situation applies no matter how many grades you have. Somebody has to finish bottom of the lowest grade, with nowhere further to go to sink to their level.
This was the situation when I played my first game in the then VJCA. Our firsts were in Senior Division, the seconds in South A playing other clubs 1sts elevens (which included South Caulfield, my first game in the 2nds as a 16yo). The next season, 67/68 the VJCA introduced Senior Seconds. I...
Congratulations to Brighton District. At Christmas I wondered how well they would finish, given the number of matches against other top-six teams they had to play, and they came through brilliantly. It's their first trip to Senior Division. One of the predecessor clubs, Brighton East, made it to...
You don't have to be there to find out the score, just go to My Cricket. Werribee won; St Andrews have given up, and decided not to come back tomorrow to be beaten by an innings and plenty.
I reckon that given your average club cricketer is not trained or experienced to spend all day out in the field on a hot day, and then front up again the next day to bat, Port and Brighton are almost certainties to meet in the GF. It would have been interesting had the two lower clubs won the...
Yes, it just looked like the round was called off. South Division was the same - all games drawn except for one which had been decided on the first day. Everybody had to turn up, but nobody played.
If anything the precedent is that play is not called off on the last day of the season - last...
It seems very, very odd to me too. I would have thought a clearance from Oakleigh would be sufficient, since the previous clearance made him an Oakleigh player.
The article makes no mention as to why the club lost points in all four grades in which they compete, including (from memory) more...
Shane Campbell had a good weekend - 65 on Saturday and 77 on the Sunday for once out. It looks like it was a great game, with the Aussies getting up with a couple of overs to spare. Let's hope this game can be repeated next year...
The next T20 matches are listed on My Cricket, but the only way I have been able to find them is to look at each of the grades for the "EF" (Elimination Final) round:
Greenvale v Keilor Park
Haig Fawkner v Glenroy
West Coburg v Doutta Stars
Sunshine Druids v Altona...
I've been looking at the ladder and the fixture for the remainder of the season. I reckon we are in for a most interesting finale, potentially with six teams all still contention in round 11, and with all six drawn to play one another in that round.
As much as I hate to write off any teams...
I reckon it's a bit early to make that call - but if I had to I would nominate Parkdale as the team to beat.
Parky are the only team in the top 5 who have won 4 matches, and also the only team to have beaten a team currently in the four - having beaten both Brighton and Beena.
Brighton are on...
I guess this must have been the rule which applied:
M2.51 If 30 minutes or less of play is lost on Day 1, the number of overs to be bowled for that day shall not be reduced. The scheduled finishing time for the match shall be extended to 6:30pm, and the innings of the team batting first, if...
Gee there's been some big scores this season, both at the team level and individually. Dingley and Murrumbeena both getting in excess of 320, and both with individual 150s. Campbell batting what looks like almost the whole day for 154, while Lamb batted just 136 minutes, which means his 151 came...
I see that McKinnon and South Caulfied both had their innings "compulsory closed" at 72 overs. That's fair enough - it implies time was lost the first week when it rained, overs were lost, and the game reduced to 144 overs. But if both teams batted their 72 overs, how can South Caulfied then...
