Oh, that's rubbish, it's got nothing to do with him being Victorian. It's because he's not that young any more, and he's been tried and discarded previously. Usually that's a fatal combination, regardless of state.
Those who make a comeback once they're pushing 30 or older usually have to do...
Far out. I wish the selectors would stop using ODI form to pick squads... Doherty and Ferguson do not belong anywhere near the Test team based on the first class records. O'Keefe and White would have to consider themselves very unlucky to have missed out to those two.
Odd that there is no...
In what way is Harris better than Bollinger?
Harris: 2 matches for 9 wickets at 23 (Tests) and 49 matches for 127 wickets at 31 (FC)
Bollinger: 11 matches for 49 wickets at 23 (Tests) and 65 matches for 227 wickets at 28 (FC)
Also struggle to see how McDonald justifies his place. With three...
I can't believe people are blaming him for fleeing rather than going to his coach or the PCB. I mean, has everyone forgotten what happened to Woolmer? I wouldn't be taking chances either.
Butterworth has played for Australia A in the past and his recent form is good. 27 is not that old. I am not saying it is my preference but I wouldn't be surprised if he got the call.
Starc has injured himself in the match against Victoria.
Hopefully Copeland gets a callup to this squad now. If not him, possibly Butterworth or Siddle.
We will see how Australia A lines up next week, but it appears that the selectors are fixated on playing Smith as a bowler. He'd be much better if they gave him North's role in the side, let him bat up the order and treat the bowling as a bonus.
The rate they're going they'll ruin him like White.
It'll be interesting. If you'd asked me a few months ago I would have probably tipped England, but their batting lineup has had big collapse issues recently and it's not just Bell. Cook and Pietersen really need to fire.
I think a lot will also depend on how dangerous Anderson is. He in...
I didn't say it was right, I'm just saying that NSW couldn't very well bench somebody who's just been selected for a representative side when they need the match preparation.
As for how it happened... Starc got into the AusA side on the back of his ODI performance, and he got into the ODI team...
I'm inclined to give the NSW selectors a bit of a break over the current Shield game, since IMO the national selectors left them with little choice on who to play after selecting Starc and Cameron in the A team. Overall though, it's a serious issue.
Starc is a great talent for a guy who's just...
Interesting first day to the NSW-VIC match, plenty of Test players on show. Good to see Michael Hill make a decent score, should keep him in the First XI for a little while - I'm glad to see him finally getting a decent run this season.
Trent Copeland can feel a bit ripped off by Starc being in the squad... had a great season last year and is off to a flyer this time. Missing out to his junior in the state ranks would rankle.
Welcome!
The second one is definitely not Brad Hodge, his signature is completely different (unless he's changed it since I got it 10+ years ago). It doesn't look like Rod Hogg's either, maybe Brad Hogg.
No idea about the first one; I can't think of any Test cricketers in the last 30 years...
Cameron White (Captain)
Tim Paine (Vice-Captain)
Mark Cameron
Callum Ferguson
Peter George
Phil Hughes
Usman Khawaja
Shaun Marsh (subject to fitness)
Steve O’Keefe
Steve Smith

Starc is a bit of a surprise...
I'm not overly fussed. I mean, it's not like we haven't had a ton of first class matches already to determine who's in form and who isn't. And given the proximity to the first Test England will probably not be turning out a full strength side for the A game anyway.
I'd be happy if they named a...
It depends what sort of squad they name on the 15th. Typically they name 13 and then drop one player; they may name a bigger squad of 15 or so if there are a few players on the bubble and they want to see how they perform in the final first class matches.
I agree with Eddie that they can't...
All over red rover, Sri Lanka all out for 115. McKay gets the bag, Starc 4/27 and Watson the single wicket.
Australia 0/24 on the chase, and the bowling from Sri Lanka has been extremely messy. Wonder what movie Channel 9 will be showing this evening.
Starc gets his second, match is looking pretty grim at 6/92 after 25 overs. Now up to Silva and Randiv to put something together.
EDIT: And Starc gets Silva, 7/95. He's really showing how an average bowler can use the conditions and, by bowling intelligently, be extremely dangerous.
