Can we try and fill in some blanks?
Div1 Captain/coach
Geelong West: Talarico/?
Grovedale: Tsitas
Lara: Yates
East Belmont: Bambury/Quick
Bell Post Hill: Lindsay
South Barwon: Halbish/Hornet & Peake
North Geelong: Thompson/ Hall
Manifold: ?
Highton: ?/Morrison
Leopold: O'Brien/Nguyen?
Newtown...
A hell of a lot worse. Thomson had a decent attack, just lacked with the batting they did have div1 standard players. Highton don't. And with no bowlers it can only spell one thing. Long days chasing leather.
I'd like to think pretty reliable, hopefully someone can come on and confirm.
Does anyone know what Grovedale are doing? heard a few rumours, is Barry Tsitas staying on?
I'm Just saying what I've heard, I know someone in a senior position at the club. I actually have a bit of time for the dino's so by no means am I trying to bring heat on you. This is a local cricket forum however and this is what it's for.
As for my own club, well I don't have one. I'm more...
I'm hearing the return of Shane Harrison, Mitch Troy, Chris Nolan, Ash McLean, Luke Parker, Sam Farnsworth, possibly Simon Anderson (Close cousin of the Harrisons) whispers of Liam Buchanan are still be thrown around. Along with a possible few Geelong players coming with Harrison. Don't need...
Matt Harrison has signed on as Newcomb & District assistant coach along with several other key players, will be the standout team in div2 and number 1 flag contender.
Lets not beat around the bush Highton are stuffed. Andrew Morrison as coach pretty much confirms that, was hardly a decent 2nds...
I'd say they'd be very dissapointed if true. The time needed to coach a Premier club would still be much more than say travelling down to Geelong on a Thursday night and again Saturday to play.
Any word on a coach or recruits at Highton?
I was told that Cox committed to St Albans officially on Sunday along with Jones and Murray. But I do agree with your point.
This may have Guild on the cusp of div3, favs to go down IMO. Any news on Benci? hearing maybe heading to Lara.
I like this system in theory needs alot of modification...
If you had 4 combined sides with the best players from GCA 1,2 & 3 plus BPCA GCA3 would come a distant last. At least BPCA clubs have 4 sides GCA3 clubs are lucky to field 2 including yours. To me that's a comp in strife, won't be around much longer IMO
As for Little River getting turf, well...
I think the div3 comp is turning into a bit of a disaster. The best bet for the GCA and the clubs is to part way. GCA to become or revert back to an all turf comp.
The Div3 teams and the BPCA should join forces and create a two tier hard wicket comp with promotion relegation.
Teams such as Corio...
Good call, yet to hear anything official out of East Belmont though.
I'll have St Albans in at 6th, think they were very lucky to win it last year.
Their best team which they rarely got on the park last year would be in the best few in div3, providing they're fair dinkum.
I'd say Geelong West and Grovedale will be 1 & 2 at this stage followed by East Belmont and St Joseph's the winner will almost certainly come from that four.
Geelong City, Thomson and Newcomb & District as a smokey from Torquay and maybe Marshall to rise up the ladder.
Lethbridge and Corio...
