Ashburton - too good for an undermanned heathmont Bulleen - will mark their return to dunstan with the ol' timers smashing the flag favourites Glen Iris - bat first, make 240+ and be all over before tea Marcellin - upset at the school, play their ground well in one day games Hawthorn - enjoys...

I think it will bring the Marcellin vs Mulgrave game closer. Also I think Hawthorn go in as favourites against Mont Albert now that it's a one dayer.

I would be interested to know what sort of ECA clubs just have $50k sitting there for something like this. That seems preposterous

Don't councils pay for the refurbs of pavilions? This would be a great result for St Kevins and no doubt make them a stronger club being closer to their school. Would be some great rivalries across the river!

Let's not dig our boots into the curators Hilfy. They are no doubt getting orders from over their head. I predict a decision to be made Wednesday or Thursday that round 1 won't commence until next week.

Think this will be a non event according to the apparent omissions at Heathmont and inclusions at Ashy I like the 2 day start to the season - particularly for higher grades

Only 1 really decent fixture there in round 1, maybe 2 if bulleen have a similar team to last year does seem odd that they would start with 2 dayers when the weather is usually rubbish in the first few weeks of october and pitches are never ready will this favour the good sides or the...

Terrorising batsman with his deadly slow outties for years! Will be missed by some, one of the great characters in the ECA. Unfortunately he was often misunderstood and hated by many also which is a shame.

I think you will find that this all depends on the whether or not the captain is a batsman or a bowler, or just an all round rotund individual.

Does sound like a bitter player who may not have got the amount he requested from his club... East Malvern & Tooronga have obviously come from different associations and is too fresh to measure their success but I think it was that 1 club had a strong junior club and the other didn't, so made...

Skevs are a credit to the competition IMO. Continually surprising all with their performances and their ability to hold on to good players with their lack luster home ground deserves recognition.

Won't go winless - they dominated last year and even though there are rumours players have left, I don't think they will go winless. If they get a favourable draw at home, they will be fine.

Big name players will always have issues with new coaches. Mainly because they think they know better and don't like being over-shadowed by a new commander in chief. Clubs that succeed are the ones recognise the club is bigger any player.
