There are more than two days for these grounds to dry out, let's not get too carried away with some heavy rain early in the week. I'm sure a few sides would be smiling where they've got runs on the board though.
South Caulfield to be relegated? Have the VTCA got no common sense? What a disgrace.
Great weekend of cricket. A round of one-dayers always delivers.
McKinnon knocking over YCCC in a great upset after an Interesting decision at the toss. SCCC finally get a win on the board over a struggling CYMS, might be the start of something for SCCC. Beaumaris keep firing and starting to...
O'Keefe was outstanding against a very solid attack. Seems to get better with age. YCCC are still the team to beat. Bentleigh's ground and scoreboard are superb.
Impessive start from Murrumbeena and Parkdale. Would be terrific to see Murrumbeena back in Senior Division. Lamb dominance continues with a ton against the Cheltenham rabble, I'll put my $1 on him redefine.
That's one hell of a side on paper, will surely make Hoppers flag contenders. Yarraville will be threatening as always and Bentleigh's batting looks a little thin without Roach. Great to see all the south sides looking like a finals chance.
There's also the potential swallowing of the MMVCA to consider, as mentioned on page 2 of the latest Leading Edge. What division are those clubs going to play in? Beaumaris heading up to Senior Divison and no one coming down to South Division for the second year in a row is great for the...
Can anyone explain what happened to two of the VTCA's best players during the season just gone:
- John Taylor
- Darryl Brown
High on $'s, low on numbers. Just had a bad year or is there more to it?
Well you couldn't get a much better grand final than that. It could easily have gone either way but in the end I spose it was YCCC with too much depth and the old premise of "catches win matches".
It's Bentleigh's to lose at this stage, they're certainly in the box seat. If they can bat through to the first drinks break or beyond, they will be closing in on 300+ and with a lot of rain around on the weekend it's very hard to see YCCC chasing that down. Will be interesting to see if YCCC...
Slow going but very well poised for some great cricket next weekend. Might have changed my tip after Day 1 but Roach has showed us why he's the only player in the VTCA with a first class century to his name. YCCC look likely to be chasing 300 and I think that will be too many even with their...
Beaumaris should win this one comfortably. They've recruited very well for the last two years after a few troubled seasons. Hopefully they can retain their key players and we expect at least three South teams dominating Senior Division next year. Back to the good old days!!
Interesting point about the standard Rugmop. I would tend to agree that the players are in much better shape these days, always a couple of exceptions though! The top teams have certainly gotten stronger over the years.
Should be a terrific battle in the Grand Final. YCCC certainly know how to...
WWW - have another read of my post and get your facts right. Spotswood prepared a bad wicket in 07/08 for the Senior Division Grand Final and the following year it was held at Port Melboune (hence they lost the Senior Div GF for preparing a bad wicket). They were held accountable.
My point is...
What's most important is that the wicket is good. Spotswood had a Grand Final a couple of years ago where the wicket was no good and they lost the right to host the Senior Division Grand Final. Generally the Senior Division Grand Final wicket is a good one and the match is a beauty.
But why do...
Fedor it depends on what you are looking for in a club because they all have their strengths and weeknesses. Success? Facilities? Ground? Coach? Committee? Cash? Standard? Drinking culture? Family culture?
Maybe wait for the derelict opening bowler to retire down at Bentleigh before you head there.
I would suggest YC followed closely by AWC at close to $50k per season. No coincidence that they are also the two strongest teams and good luck to them. They are two very well run cricket clubs that are the envy of all of us.
Bentleigh off to an impressive start. I'm sure they will be finals contenders. And no doubt the North sides will enjoy playing out there too with their new surface and electronic scoreboard.
No problems with last weekend being cancelled but there's no mention of a Reserve Day on the email sent around last Wednesday and no mention of it on the website or in the fixtures. Great if there is a Reserve Day I'm sure the majority of players would much prefer the Subbies solution to playing...
