1st ODI: England vs West Indies at Lord's

First game in this series is underway.

West Indies sent England in very overcast conditions. All of the English batsmen have got starts but no-one has been able to get a big score so far.

After 37 overs, England are 3/148. Cook made 29, Prior 34, Pietersen was just out for 33 and Bell is 43 not out.

Edwards, Dwayne Smith and Bravo are the wicket-takers for the Windies.

Re: 1st ODI: England vs West Indies at Lord's

Rain interrupted play for a short while there but it is back underway.

England are 5/194 in the 46th over. Bell was run out by Gayle for 56 and Collingwood didn't last long in the middle and could only score 5 runs. West Indies are strangling the English batting line-up here but the pitch still has afew demons in it so the English bowlers will be happy with that.

Owais Shah is not out on 20 and Dmitri Mascarenhas is not out on 2. Fidel Edwards has 2/39.

Re: 1st ODI: England vs West Indies at Lord's

England all out for 225 off 49.5 overs.

England's batting has been disappointing today. All the batters got starts but no-one has been able to go on with the job and it has cost them badly. Their tail has collapsed awfully, all the bowlers falling around Owais Shah who finishes on 42 after being run-out by Dinesh Ramdin going for a suicidal single.

Fidel Edwards destroyed England's batting line-up taking 5/45, his best figures since his debut against Zimbabwe in which he took 6/22.

Good job by the Windies to restrict England to such a modest total. What will they be able to do with the bat once play resumes?

We have ourselves a good game here.

Re: 1st ODI: England vs West Indies at Lord's

Poor start from West Indies. They're 4/25 in the 9th over.

James Anderson found himself on a hat-trick after dismissing Runako Morton and Marlon Samuels for ducks. Plunkett managed to remove Chris Gayle before then and then Devon Smith was run-out a few minutes ago.

Chanderpaul's going to have bat well again here in order for the Windies to win this game. He is not out on 5, Dwayne Bravo is with him on 7.

Re: 1st ODI: England vs West Indies at Lord's

West Indies collapsed in the end. Bravo fell for 29 and the rest didn't help out much except for Ravi Rampaul who made 24. CHanderapul was once again, the mainstay of the West Indian innings and finished unbeaten on 53. It's a shame no-one was willing to stick around longer with him.

Stuart Broad collected 3/20 off 9 overs with Anderson and Plunkett getting two wickets. Monty Panesar picked up one scalp.

West Indies all out for 146 in the 40th over giving England a 79-run victory.

Fidel Edwards was named Man of the Match.
