2nd ODI: India vs West Indies at Cuttack

India won the first game in a high scoring thriller with West Indies falling short by just 13 runs. Not even an unbeaten 148 from Shivnarine Chanderpaul could get them victory.

Ramesh Powar comes into the Indian team and presents yet another bowling option and also a handy lower-order batter. This is Powar's first one-day game since October last year. Joginder Sharma is also expected to play in place of S Sreesnath.

In a massive blow to the Windies, Brian Lara is out with a knee problem and opening batsmen Chris Gayle will lead the team. Dwayne Broavo has been passed fit to play and will take his place in the line-up for the 2nd match of the series.

8 of the 12 games played at this ground have been won by the team batting second which presents an interesting statistic so it seems that bowling first may have an advantage.

West Indies will be eager to get a win on the board here to level the series but India will be keen to go 2-0 up. Last time was a high scoring thriller and we should see another close game once again.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs West Indies at Cuttack

India was all out for 189. Dwayne Smith took 4 wickets.

Gayle was out early for West Indies, and now Chanderpaul and Devon Smith couldn't agree on a second run, and Devon Smith has been run out.

West Indies 40-2. They're not scoring quickly at all, but at least the required run rate is still well under 5 per over.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs West Indies at Cuttack

Samuels gone for 1, West Indies 42-3 after 15.5

I don't have a good feeling about this run chase.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs West Indies at Cuttack

Powar gets the big wicket of Bravo

West Indies 85-4 after 26.2

That was big wicket, because Bravo was really looking dangerous out there, having scored 31 and equaled Chanderpaul's score already.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs West Indies at Cuttack

Morton gone almost right away, 89-5 after 27

West Indies in trouble now, that Bravo wicket was likely the big one.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs West Indies at Cuttack

123-5 after 35

The required rate is still just about 4 and a half per over. If they can hang on to their wickets, the West Indies will win.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs West Indies at Cuttack

Dwayne Smith seemingly trying to do more than was necessary, and flies out for 27 runs off of only 28 balls faced.

139-6, they still need 51 runs

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs West Indies at Cuttack

Ramdin never looked comfortable, and now he's out.

West Indies 151-7 after 41

they need 39 from the last 9 overs.

Bradshaw just needs to stick around and let Chanderpaul finish it off.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs West Indies at Cuttack

169-9 after 48

Chanderpaul needs 21 runs from the last 2 overs

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs West Indies at Cuttack

Chanderpaul bolwed going for a big swing!

West Indies lose another close one.
Chanderpaul out for 67 today, he's been out there for every single delivery of the last 2 ODI's.

Re: 2nd ODI: India vs West Indies at Cuttack

What a bunch of jokers.

I am fed up with this WI team.

Windies consistently disappointing in typically embarassing fashion.
