2nd ODI: South Africa vs West Indies at Cape Town

The seocnd game in this series is well underway.

South Africa are 4/196 from 41.2 overs after deciding to bat first. Graeme Smith was out about 15 mins ago for 84 and has the best score of the South African batters so far. Next best was AB de Villiers with 45 and JP Duminy has a chance to continue his good form with 38 not out so far.

Jerome Taylor has been the West Indies best bowler with 2/22 off seven overs.

Sewnarine Chattergoon, a player I've don't know much about is into the West Indian team as an opening batsman.. He has only played 3 previous ODI's before this one.

South Africa finish at 9/255. A flurry of wickets at the end saw the chase for quick runs falter a little, Taylor picked up a third wicket with some run-outs also eventuating.

Will be interesting how West Indies go with the chase, Chanderpaul will hold the key for the West Indies again, it's a question of whether the others can stand up or not.

Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa vs West Indies at Cape Town

West Indies 39-1 after 12 overs.

Parchment was the only one to fall so far, and Morton is in there right now to partner with Chatergoon. It's not a very good run rate so far, but there's still lots of time to improve that. Pollock has only given up 10 runs from 6 overs. So on the bright side, he can only bowl 4 more overs. :p

Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa vs West Indies at Cape Town

Chattergoon was out for 34, then Samuels came in and pretty much accomplished nothing before getting out for 2.

West Indies is 69-3 after 22. Morton and Chanderpaul will need to pick up the pace here.

edit: Morton out for 19. West Indies 69-4 after 22.1. It's not looking good at the moment.

97-4 after 30 overs.

West Indies still need 159 from the last 20 overs. Not gonna happen. Chanderpaul and Bravo just can't get anything going. Looks like South Africa will take a 2-0 lead.

Re: 2nd ODI: South Africa vs West Indies at Cape Town

West Indies were all out for 169, noweher near the required target. Chanderpaul scored 58 and was the ninth wicket to fall in the 48th over, the game was long gone by then.

West Indies struggled to get going early, once again, the top order gave them nothing and it was left to the others to rescue them from a hopeless position.

Morne Morkel took 4/36 for South Africa with Langeveldt and Pollock getting two wickets each.

Man of the Match was Pollock for his 2/13 off 10 overs, a truly stunning effort.

The next game is at Port Elizabeth on January 27.
