3rd ODI: Australia v New Zealand at Hobart

Looks like Australia is going to win this series 2-0.

They finished their 50 overs at 282-6,
and in reply, New Zealand is a meager 43-3 after 11.4 overs so far.

Ponting starred with 134 not out.

My one concern is Clarke though. He only scored 7. The last time he opened, he got a duck. Leave him where he's comfortable. The next time you need an opener, just throw someone like Haddin or Lee up there.

The third game in this series is well underway. This game is at Bellerive Oval in Hobart so that means that this match is a day game.

Australia batted first and made 6/282 from their 50 overs. The innings was highlighted once again by Ricky Ponting who scored a brilliant century, making 134 not out. Andy Symonds was the next best scorer with 52. Jacob Oram was the bext bowler for New Zealand, taking 2/34 off his 10 overs.

In reply, New Zealand are struggling at 3/49 in the 14th over. Brett Lee has 2/18 with James Hopes the other wicket-taker. Hopes claimed Matthew Sinclair LBW with his first ball.

Been watching it for a while and then decided to log in and start a thread. Perhaps if Hobart could afford some lighting then the game wouldn't be starting till now.

Michael Clarke takes a good catch to get rid of Gareth Hopkins off the bowling of Brad Hogg.

6/88 in the 24th over.

EDIT: Vettori gone for a duck. Brad Hogg gets another wicket and is doing his test selection chances no harm at all. 7/88 now.

Kyle Mills is bowled by Tait for 7.

8/118. Mark Gillespie is the new batsman and is batting with a runner. Gillespie took a hit from Ponting on the foot late in the Australian innings.

After taking some stick, Brett Lee clean bowls Scott Styris for 75.

9/158 after 33 overs.

Jeetan Patel is the new batsman. Mark Gillespie has second top score for the kiwis and he's batting at number 10, something which has summed up NZ's batting display today rather succintly.

All over. Brad Hogg takes the final wicket of Gillespie who hit the ball straight to Andrew Symonds at mid-wicket.

New Zealand are all out for 168, so Australia win by 114 runs.

Brett Lee and Brad Hogg both finished with three wickets while Shaun tait and James Hopes snared two wickets each.

The Man of the Match is Ricky Ponting. No surprise really, a brilliant innings earlier today. Today's century was Ponting's 4th century against the Kiwis in his last five innings against them. A rather remarkable statistic.

Ponting is also named Man of the Series for his two centuries in the series.

So, Australia claim the series 2-0 and now hold the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy. Australia now host India in a four match test series which starts on Boxing Day. New Zealand meanwhile, will now head home and host Bangladesh in a series on one-dayers and tests which take place just before and just after the start of the new year.
