3rd ODI: India vs West Indies

Well, no one made a thread for this, and I'm only watching it now on delay, so I might as well have some fun.

Let's see, Brian Lara won the toss and inexplicably chose to field.
India, batting first, are 94-1 after 10 overs.

Robin Uthappa on absolute fire here.

Re: 3rd ODI: India vs West Indies

95-2 after 10.2 overs
Uthappa out for 70

How do you like that? Chris Gayle comes in and immediately breaks the partnership. Well, more importantly, removes Uthappa.

Re: 3rd ODI: India vs West Indies

India 151-3 after 20 overs.

Unfortunately, there's still 30 overs left to get through for the West Indies bowlers, so India will be wanting a huge score here. West Indies really need to pick up some wickets to apply some pressure here, but Dravid and Tendulkar are starting to look comfortable in there, and they're starting to score with ease. Not quite Robin Uthappa ease, but this would be a really good partnership to break from the Windies perspective.

Re: 3rd ODI: India vs West Indies

India 206-3 after 30 overs.

Dravid and Tendulkar are still going strong, hitting singles at will and picking up an odd boundary every few overs.

They're really going to start closing in on a high score in a few more overs here, especially if West Indies can't break this partnership.

Re: 3rd ODI: India vs West Indies

Two great catches take care of both Dravid and Tendulkar.
Emrit made a great catch standing about an inch away from the boundary raop, and did a great job not to lose his balance. Then Morton made a brilliant leaping diving catch to send Sachin back off a ball that looked like a sure boundary.

India 237-5 after 37.1

West Indies are slowing the runs down now too.
This match is getting interesting.

Re: 3rd ODI: India vs West Indies

Bravo gets Yuvraj and Karthik in the same over. He even made a nice fairly long run to c&b Yuvraj.

255-7 after 42

West Indies definitely back in the match now, and India, who looked likely to reach something over 350 for a while, now look like they'll come up short of 300.

Other than one dropped catch from Gayle, the West Indies fielders have been superb, limiting the runs and taking wickets.

Re: 3rd ODI: India vs West Indies

India all out for 268!

Bravo took 4 wickets, but it was an overall excellent job by the West Indies bowlers and fielders to fight their way back into this match.

From 230-3, India have collapsed to what can only be viewed as a terrible finish.

Re: 3rd ODI: India vs West Indies

West Indies 73-2 after 10 overs. They threw 2 wickets away, but this is definitely a high-scoring pitch, and if they can hang on to their wickets, they'll certainly win this match.

Re: 3rd ODI: India vs West Indies

West Indies 146-3 after 20 over, they need 123 more runs from the last 30 overs.

Samuels is really swinging away on this track. Probably swinging too much, and he likely won't last til the end if he keeps swinging like this.

Lara is getting set in too though, and with both of them scoring so well, West Indies are racking up the runs at a very quick pace.

Re: 3rd ODI: India vs West Indies

West Indies 209-3 after 31. Only 60 more runs needed.

Looks like Samuels and Lara will take this one home easily, though I guess Tendulkar and Dravid were in a similar position.

Re: 3rd ODI: India vs West Indies

Samuels gone for 98, tough luck for him, but still a great innings.

West Indies 219-4, 50 needed.

Can they possibly blow it from here?

Re: 3rd ODI: India vs West Indies

West Indies won, and though it may have looked somewhat close in the end (270-7), in reality those last few wickets fell only because the Windies players were going for some big entertaining shots to wrap up a match they had safely won.

Glad they finally won a match, they've played well in this series and deserved one. And they were certainly the better team today.
