3rd ODI: New Zealand vs Sri Lanka at Christchurch

Both teams go into the game with one win each and will be keen to get an advantage in the 5-game series. New Zealand had a last gasp win in the previous game and won off the very last ball thanks to Michael Mason hitting a four to win the match by just one wicket. Both teams played great games and both teams deserved to win the game but alas the kiwis came on top.

Kumar Sangakkara continues his good form with the bat and James Franklin is moulding himself into all-rounder status. I can't see Vettori batting at number five for too much longer, I think he is seriously over-rating his batting ability.

Anyway, another great contest coming up and it will interesting to see who will be victorious and gain a nice advantage with two games remaining after this match. Should be a cracker.

Re: 3rd ODI: New Zealand vs Sri Lanka at Christchurch

Sri Lanka have slipped to 6/70 by the 20th over. Adams and Patel missed out for NZ, while the SL top 6 of Tharanga, jayasuriya, Atapattu, sangakkara, jayawardene and silva mostly fell to the star with the ball, Michael mason, who has figures of 9-1-24-4. Dilshan is currently 12 not out while Maharoof is on 1*, and with only Murali, Perera and Fernando to come, a 100+ score will be tough work.

Re: 3rd ODI: New Zealand vs Sri Lanka at Christchurch

Sri Lanka wee bowled out in the 36th over for 112, with Atapattu the top scorer with an out of character run a ball 28. Maon got 4, while fill-in skipper Daniel Vettori got 5.2-2-7-2.

Ari Lanka started well with the ball, with Astle and Taylor both falling for ducks after their heroics together in the first ODI. McCullum hit out but handed Perera his second wicket, and NZ are currents 3/51, with Vettori and Fulton both trying to score quickly, no doubt to avoid Murali.

Re: 3rd ODI: New Zealand vs Sri Lanka at Christchurch

New Zealand are not making this easy on themselves....I suppose the Sri Lankan attack has something to do with that as well. What could have been a walk in the park is becoming a bit of a battle. Chasing 110 from 46 overs, they are 92/6 after 20 overs. The over count won't be a problem, but they won't want to lose any more wickets here....

Re: 3rd ODI: New Zealand vs Sri Lanka at Christchurch

thoroughly enjoyed looking at some of this game,

Mason to start with bowled well, rocked the top order.

Then Fulton led them home.

Entertaining game of cricket. Pity the rain ruined it at times.
