3rd ODI South Africa vs. India at Newlands [R]

The 3rd match is on Sunday at Newlands.

India broke so many dishonorable low records at Kingsmead, it's beyond description. If they keep playing like this, they might as well stay out of India and not return back home, or else some of those players might get in serious trouble.

I would like to see Kumble and Irfan Pathan being given a chance in this match, instead of Agarkar and Harbhajan. But bowling hasn't really been India's biggest problem in the last match. Indian batting was some of the worst seen in a long, long time. Greg Chappell may also be let go early if things don't improve in a hurry.

Rahul Dravid feels that they lost the trick by failing to capitalise on the opportunity to wrap up the South African innings after having them tottering at one stage. He also says that their bowling first up was good but it is the consistency that is hurting them. He is looking forward to regroup the side to perform well in the forthcoming games.

Graeme Smith feels that his side showed great character as they bounced back strong after suffering early blows in the beginning. He commends the performance of Kemp and also some last minute slams from Hall that helped them to post a good total on this track. They were right on money with the ball and that helped them win the game.

Justin Kemp is the Man of the Match
He says that his aim was to play out the whole quota of 50 overs. He commends the efforts of Pollock and Hall who provided him great support. He is very happy with his performance and would look to play the same way.

Its the African lions once again taking Indians onto the backfoot. They are two up in the series. Indian batting struggled all throughout the innings with wickets tumbling at regular intervals.Only some resistance shown by Dravid and Dhoni but that too didn't last long as the South African quickies were too good for them to handle. It seems the Indian think tank really needs to put on their thinking caps on work out something systematic to rectify whatever that went wrong. But we cannot take the credit away from the South Africans. They played extremely well and except their top order's batting performance, it was all South Africa today.

I'm a little surprised that Kemp has never scored a century before. I guess it's because he bats kind of low down the order.

Yet another dominant display from South Africa. They're a class aboce India in this series. I have a feeling that won't change either.

The only consolation I can take is, unlike the 2nd ODI India showed they've a bit of backbone and spine. They played a lot better than the 2nd ODI (Particularly pleased with Dhoni's batting and getting that swagger, some arrogant attitude back. Also, was very happy for the opening overs from Zaheer Khan and his working hard trying to make a comeback after a long absence.). However, this playing "better" simply isn't good enough.

South Africa's fielding was absolutely phenomenal. Some of the catches as well as run-saving plays were out of this world. A lot of Indian players (Sehwag comes to mind first) have got ways to go to go up in fitness level, to be able to field like that. Indian fielding is second-rate when compared to fielding from top-rated teams.
