3rd ODI: Zimbabwe vs South Africa at Harare

This game is well underway with South AFrica already having won the series.

South Africa won the toss and chose to bat first. They proceeded to rack up 9/323 off their 50 overs with AB de Villiers the star scoring an outstanding 107 off 89 balls. He and Albie Morkel were responsible for the bulk of South Africa's score as Morkel added 97 runs of his own. Together, they put on 186 runs for the third wicket, ensuring South Africa would put up a formidable total. Gulam Bodi made 32 opening the innings with Graeme Smith making 24. Ablie's brother, Morne Morkel made an invaluble cameo of 23 not out right at the end of the innings. He hit 2 sixes in his innings which lasted only 11 balls.

For the bowlers, Gary Brent picked up 3/58 with Elton Chigumbura and Hamilton Masakadza taking two wickets each.

In reply, Zimbabwe have progressed to 2/172 off 29 overs. Vusi Sibanda made 41 with Masakadza hitting 48 runs. Both those players opened the Zimbabwe innings. Brendan Taylor is 30 not out with Tatenda Taibu in a hurry with 45 not out off 37 balls.

Morne Morkel and Johan van der Wath have the wickets for the Proteas with both wickets courtesy of catches by AB de Villiers who is the keeper for this series.

Brendan Taylor falls to Thandi Tshabalala for 43. 3/217 in the 38th over with the required run rate now at 8.33 runs an over.

Elton Chigumbura is the new batsman and makes his intentions clear by hittind the second ball he faces for six.

Tatenda Taibu is 72 not out. He just needs to stick around if Chigumbura is going to go the tonk.

Starting to come apart for Zimbabwe now. Chigumbura fell to van der Wath after being sucked in to an ambigious flick to the leg-side and then Sean Williams was run out a short time ago.

Zimbabwe are 5/243 in the 42nd over, Taibu is 87 not out. Required run rate is 9.91 runs per over.

Re: 3rd ODI: Zimbabwe vs South Africa at Harare

Zimbabwe tried hard but they just weren't good enough. Wickets lost at crucial times and some overs which didn't produce as many runs as they would have liked cost them dearly and in the end the total proved too much.

They made 7/295 from their 50 overs handing South Africa victory by 28 runs. Tatenda Taibu scored a well deserved century and remained not out on 107 from 103 balls. Prosper Utseya was also undefeated on nine.

For the South African bowlers, Johan van der Wath was the only multiple wicket-taker with 2/50 with one wicket each going to Pollick, Ntini, Morne Morkel and Tshabalala.

South Africa's bowling in this series has been okay but not as good as it should be. They have plenty of work to do before they host the Twenty20 World Cup which is not too far away now.

Man of the Match and the Series was AB de Villiers.
