4th ODI: India v Australia at Chandigarh

India batting first today, let's see if they can at least make this a close match for once.

Ganguly, RP Singh, and Murali Kartik in for India, Bracken in for Australia.

So far, Ganguly is proving his worth to the team, as usual.

India 34-0 after 10, Ganguly with 21, Tendulkar with only 4.

Rather ordinary bowling effort from Australia so far. India are 2/202 after 40 overs.

James Hopes is Australia's best bowler with 2/36.

Australia has bowled 30 wides.

That's incredible! At that rate, it might be 40 wides by the time the inning is over!! :D

Re: 4th ODI: India v Australia at Chandigarh

Tendulkar is run out for 79 off 119 with a Brett Lee direct hit from the boundry. India are now 3/221 off 42 overs with Dravid the new man in.

Re: 4th ODI: India v Australia at Chandigarh

Brilliant batting from India at the end of their innings has seen them make 4/291. For the Indians Tendulkar survived numerous close calls to be eventually dismisssed for 79 off 119 balls. His opening partner Sourav Ganguly got 41 off 59. In the middle of the order Yuvraj Singh got 39 off 55 but it was Dhoni and Utappa who set this up for India. After Dravid fell the score was 4/244 off 45.5 overs. Dhoni and Uthappa put on 47 runs in 4.1 overs. Dhoni got 50 not out off 35 balls and Uthappa got 30 off 18 balls.

The Australians bowling display was uncharacteristic. The Australian's bowled 31 wides for a total of 39 extras. Lee got an economic 0/26 off 7 overs, Bracken was expensive late bowling 1/78 off his 10 overs, Johnson was expensive with his 8 overs going for 51. Hopes was the pick of the bowlers taking 2/43 off 9, Symonds took 0/39 off 7 and Hogg took 0/46 off 9.

This game is set up to be the best of the series. We will see how the Aussies go under pressure.

Re: 4th ODI: India v Australia at Chandigarh

Gilchrist caught on the boundry hooking for 18 off 17. Australia 1/37 off 5.1 overs.

13th over the 100 is up......

hayden is destroying them 50 off 40
punter starting to hit his straps with 3 boudries in the last 2 overs....

the turbanator is on in the second power play

Re: 4th ODI: India v Australia at Chandigarh

Ponting is stumped by Dhoni off Pathan for 29 and India get the breakthrough they really needed. Ponting isn't happy either but his foot was on the line.

2/122 in the 19th. Hayden is going strong on 67, he has 1501 runs in ODI's for the calendar year, the first Australian to do so. The previous best was Mark Waugh's 1468 runs in 1999.

What's the world record?

Sachin Tendulkar scored 1894 runs back in 1998.

Tendulkar has actually achieved the feat twice, he first did it back in 1996, scoring 1611 runs.

Hayden is the first non-Asian player to achieve the feat as well. For Hayden to pass Tendulkar's record, he would need 460 more runs from seven games. He's 70 not out at the moment, so he's taken another chunk out of the little master's record today.

Harbhajan Singh takes an easy catch to get rid of Michael Clarke for seven.

3/133 after 21.4 overs.

Re: 4th ODI: India v Australia at Chandigarh

Hayden falls after charging Murali Karthik and is out for 92.

4/191 after 33.5 overs. Symonds is 32 not out.

Brad Hodge is the new batsman. Seriously, the guy must have naked photos of the Australian selectors, how is he still in the side?

Re: 4th ODI: India v Australia at Chandigarh

Haydos is out for 92 off 92.

Australian require 99 runs off 93 balls with 6 wickets in hand.

Hodge is 1 not out and Symonds is 34 not out.

Re: 4th ODI: India v Australia at Chandigarh

Hodge, Symonds and Hogg all fell in quick succession. Hodge was stumped off a wide, surely that is the end of his career? Symonds and Hogg fell in successive balls, Symonds being bowled in RP Singh and Brad Hogg was run out also by RP.

7/275 off 48.5 overs. Need 17 off 7 balls.

Re: 4th ODI: India v Australia at Chandigarh

Manage a single off the last ball and then Hopes hits the first ball of the 50th over for 4. 12 needed off 5.

Re: 4th ODI: India v Australia at Chandigarh

Hopes got a single off the next ball but Lee swung and missed.

Lee managed to get the fourth ball away but only for a single as Australia needed ten off two. Hopes got a single off the 5th and Lee missed the last one.

India won by 8 runs.

A very ordinary effort by Australia today. Their bowlers really let them down, bowling 31 wides in any form of cricket is poor and today it has cost them victory. The batters tried hard but the extras proved to be too much and India defended their score pretty well, ensuring the series is still alive.
