5th ODI: England vs India at Headingley

This game is well underway. England won the toss and decided to bowl. And what an error that has proved to be so far!

India piled on the runs, making 6/324 from their allotted 50 overs. No-one really made a big score but the crucial part for India is that they had solid contributions from their top four batters with most scoring their runs at better than even time.

Yuvraj Singh top scored with 72 from just 57 balls. Sachin Tendulkar fared similarly with 71 off 59. There were also solid contributions from Sourav ganguly and Gautam Gambhir with 59 and 51 respectively.

For the English bowlers, Anderson, Lewis, Broad, Collingwood and Panesar all got a wicket each with Matt Prior getting a run-out. The Indian batters took a liking to Staurt Broad's bowling, he gave up 84 from his 10 overs.

In reply, England are 4/121 after 20 overs. The players have just resumed after a short rain delay and England are in a frantic hurry to get in front of the Duckworth/Lewis target which they are a fair way behind of. Matt Prior and Ian Bell were going beautifully until Sourav Ganguly nailed both of them in the space of two overs. Prior fell for 46 and Bell 44 with Dhoni helping in both dismissals. In fact, Dhoni has been in all four dismissals so far. Ajit Agarkar and Zaheer Khan have the other two English scalps.

A way to go for England yet although their tail proved very capable in the last game. The revised target is 307 off 45 overs.

Owais Shah out to Romesh Powar for 15 from 36 balls. And guess who he was caught by? Dhoni again!!! He has five dismissals from the five wickets taken so far.

England 5/147 in the 27th, the required rate is over 9 runs per over now. It would take some effort here to win this game.

Re: 5th ODI: England vs India at Headingley

Duckworth Lewis method ensured this series is still alive. India won quite comfortably, so the series now stands 3-2 in favor of England.
