Akhtar and Asif exonerated

Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif will get off scot free after the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) was forced to dismiss an appeal by the World Anti Doping Agency due to not having jurisdiction to reverse the decision.

Basically, the Pakistan Cricket Board does not allow an appeal to an international sports court and the ICC's code does not possess any rule that obliges the Pakistan board to allow appeals to CAS.

Akhtar and Asif escape penalty

------------------------------

What a joke. This is a complete injustice. These two were caught cheating by their own board for using performance-enhancing drugs and now they are going to escape penalty due to a few rules which has left WADA and the CAS powerless. This wouldn't have happened in the first place has the PCB shown some balls and banned these two for using the drug, Nandralone.

Completely unacceptable in my opinion. Surely something can be done to make these guys serve their penalty for blatant cheating. Not to mention the PCB as well, for somehow acquitting thse guys because they didn't know not to take performance enhancing substances.

Pathetic all round.

Even as a Pakistani supporter, absolute farce...

Re: Akhtar and Asif exonerated

Spot on. Akhtar and Asif did the crime, they should do the time.

Drugs should have zero tolerance and no considerations made on those who lose their careers over stuffing up.

Re: Akhtar and Asif exonerated

Warney did the time and it actually helped extend his career and get him fully fit. I wonder if it would have been beneficial for the same thing to happen to Shoaib as he is pretty injury prone.

yeah but in the same sport warne tested positive for a diuretic and was given a ban. This is just inconsistent from the ICC.
