Another Classic
ok, had another classic match a few days ago.
the stadium: local park, field comprised of grass and cement area for bowling.
Ball: tennis ball, half of it electrical taped
teams: 1 v1
version: 6 overs each, two outs per side
the recap.
Heaps of wides as neither bowler was used to the new technology being used for a ball
I bat first and start off slow, only 9 runs off 2 overs. things get going strong in the third over with a few 4's and a wicket. i get bowlesd out with 3 balls to spare, totally my innings of 30 runs. nt the best run rate, but i was full of confidence in my bowling.
my mate's innings- the first two balls barely miss leg stump. confidence oozing now. next ball, gets hit short, he takes a chance. easy pick up by me, throws only 4 feet away for the early wicket.... I miss!
i then bowl 5 wides.
fast forward to the halfway point. he's 21-1 with 3 overs to go. things not looking good.
4 consecutive wides. 25-1.
3.5- next ball gets hit for 3 runs.
4.1- wide, 29-1, one ball to tie, two needed to win.
4.2- Bowled, i take the middle stump and wild celebrations start! a magnificent win for me!

actually, we had experimented with taping a tennis ball and all i say is the thing swung like i had never been able to swing a ball before. i guess i have control issues!
