First we need to set up a sub-committee, then they would set up a poll which would form the main committee, then the main committee will set up a poll on this topic.

Shouldn't be so many bonus points IMO.

We also should reward the premiers with 1 bonus point for the team that played (inc. 12th man) in the grand final.

Also, I know on BF there's the Kenny Ryan medal (didn't happen last year, but don't worry fellas, I've been working on it for this year), which is awarded to the best player in the competition, a similar thing should be done here.

2 points for the overall player of the season (in both forms), and then 1 point each to the OD POTY and Test POTY.

Also, maybe a bonus point to a teams B & F?

In the next day or so i'm going to create a poll on this, these are the options i've got from this thread so far:

No bonus points

1 point for premiership XI

1 point for premiership XI + 1 point for most runs + 1 points most wickets

Just 1 point runs + 1 points wickets

1 point for premiership XI + 1 point for most runs + 1 point for most wickets + 2 points for player of the year + 1 point one day player of the year + 1 point test player of the year

Obviously bowlers would loose points off their bowling averages and batsman would gain on their batting averages.

Are there any other options anyone would like me to include in this poll?

Why didn't they have it last year? Lyall was absolutely robbed.

Em will win it this year anyway. :)

Didn't have time last year.

Haven't done that much towards it so far this year, but I've got the next 3 weeks off uni so it'll get done then @|

I guess we have to think of the purpose of bonus points.

They certainly make much more sense when aligned with a salary cap system.

So I reckon BP's

1) Add fun to the competition

2) add incentive

3) keep players in the competition (attrition rate is poor on BFFCL)

Of course too many makes it hard for new players.

Let me think this through on line. Say a team has a $6.5M cap, and each player starts at $500K. Thats 13 players max.
Then let's say one bonus point is worth 20K. Next season the players values change and the cap stays the same. Does a captain trade for 11 superstars or 14 of the previous seasons losers. One gives quality but the other gives flexibility.

I like this trading and salary cap idea because it creates interest off season, and that's when most players disappear.

But who would be the trade deciders, captain, player, or both agree?

So what would I like to see BP's given for, and lost.

Firstly loyalty. Play for two seasons and get a BP, four seasons another one...never lost.

Performance. hard one due to starting stats, we don't know whether the sim will favour ball or bat. So initially I reckon (based on 4 teams six games) :-

batsmen
2 centuries +1 batting point
1 double century +2 batting points
best batting average +2 batting points ( min 50% games played)

bowlers
2 5 wicket efforts -1 bowling point
1 10 wicket test or 6 wicket one dayer -2 bowling points
best bowling average -2 bowling points

Wicet Keepers
most wk dismissals + 2 batting points
5 wk dismissals twice in season +1 batting point

All rounders (difficult)
Twice in a season, the following exceeded for 1 point of their choice.
Batting AR 40 runs 2 wickets
Pure AR 30 runs 3 wickets
Bowling AR 20 runs 4 wickets

Best allrounder...Runs x 2 + Wickets x 10 = 2 points

everyone
2 ducks -1 batting point (well you can be a Bruce Reid)
2 0 wicket efforts +1 bowling point

all lost after one season

one point lost after each next season. ie they last two seasons.

I'm not in favour of posting points. One good post is worth 20 crappy ones. So I'd not give any BP's to any player that had not posted an average of twice in each game thread between season start and finals. ie if six tests and six one dayers 24 posts minimum.

I haven't done the maths but it may mean that each season the salary cap rises a bit.


Well, it's really a discussion post, so what do you think?

Yeah that sounds good. Just with the player values, I don't think that should be done automatically i think it should be decided either by bidding or the player asking for a certain price. This would add more interest for everyone involved, and also add more tactics needed by captains when recruiting players.

Yep, agreed, but there can be a book price and a negotiated price. Same as selling a car.

But who agrees?

Say players book value is $540K, and he wants to move, then say two other teams bid an auction. Who decides, do we have player freedom of contract as in Soccer?

Both captains and players involved would have to agree to a trade

Considering their will be another auction at the end of this season loyalty points won't need to be discussed until then as players won't have the choice to stay at their club after this season.

And a general bonus points question, do players receive different amounts of points for one dayers and tests? ie. could a player have a starting average of 50 in tests and 52 in one dayers?

Some good posts guys but it does sound a little complicated. As far as earning points for on-field performances, I think once that a goal is achieved then that player can't earn more points relating to the same rule.

For example, If a player was to score two centuries in a season, they would therefore earn one point. But, if they were to score two more, they shouldn't get another point. I think rather than trying to hand out bonus points for everything we should reserve them as something which should be special or alternatively as a reward for hard work.

I'm happy for a similar system like this to go ahead as long as we aren't going overboard with handing out bonus points. If something like this was to become part of the league then the question remains as who would have the time to run or manage such a system?

Jollo why are we doing a whole redraft next season and we can't stay at this club we have been drafted into?

This is the beginning of the new bigcricket. As new posters come teams fill up more but I for one would show loyalty and prefer to stay at the same club to build the dynasty that is going to occur :)

Frodo that is a huge post and at this late hour I doubt I could make much sense of it so i'll leave it at the moment and have a proper look in the morning

I don't think you should get rewarded for scoring centuries during the season, I think it's extra bonus points that don't need to be awarded.

There should only be 6 individual bonus points handed out at the end of each season, they are as follows; 1) leading wicket taker in the test competition, 2) leading run scorer in the test competition, 2) leading wicket taker in the one day competition and 4) leading run scorer in the one day competition, 5) overall test POTY and 6) overall one day POTY.

The XI premiership players should also recieve a bonus point to their main attribute. All rounders are free to choose.

The only thing that needs to be dealt with is, if the players don't retain their title as best batsman/bowler or overall poty, do they relinquish their points as someone else gets them, or do they keep them?
