Boxing

Hi,

I do boxing against a heavy bag to help with fast bowling as I find it the perfect exercise both in terms of cardio and shoulder strength. It helps considerably, but I don't know what structure to do the boxing in, for example, one 5 minute 'round', five one minute 'rounds', etc.

Thanks

Re: Boxing

Tabata's are good with a puch bag.

That's 20 sec work, 10 sec rest 8 times (4 minutes). Go as hard as you can in the work section, I mean REALLY hard.

If you want to match bowling work to rest ratios then you would be doing 3-4 mins on then 3-4 mins off. Lower intensity but you can still go quite hard.

Don't forget to include lower body power work to really round things off.

Indeed, I've gotta get going on that lower body work for that hip drive which was really good in my first net session of the year but has since gone to ****.

Do you have a trainer who knows plyometrics and landing mechanics? They are a really easy way to get better hip drive, but you need the right landing technique to avoid injury.
