Post up your brain teasers and riddles here, the person who guesses correctly gets to set the next one!

A man goes into a shop and asks for item that is black when he buys it, red when he uses it and grey when he finally throws it away. What is it?

I was thinking of a newspaper as it can become 'read' when you use it but I can't make the other colours work.

Maybe a match?

Not a newspaper old boy, although I see the logic.

A match, that is also a negative.

Charcoal?

That's black when you buy it, glows red when in use and then grey when it's finished with.

It's the only thing I can think of.

Cannot for the life of me guess what your answer is; it's driving me mad :cursing: [not that I ever curse] :D

I gave my answer to a [blonde] friend and for some reason, she couldn't see it. Having taken off the first four letters, what was left didn't sound like the word at all. :laugh:

OK! Had to seek advice from my youngest son for this one; all mine are so lame such as "What gets wet as it dries?" Blame it on my very deprived childhood :p

As I said not as good as your reply - aitch, take away the aitc and you still have 'h'.
