Cricket Sim 09 - The New T20 Simulator

Hi guys, it feels good to be back here.

Well I guess most of the Madrid camp knows about it, but I've been working on a T20 cricket simulator of my own from the past 4-5 months.

The result? Presenting Cricket Sim 09 - :D

* Fully Editable Commentary – That’s right folks, for the first time in Cricket Simulators, CS09 offers editable commentary, and commentary much more than in most ball by ball cricket simulators currently out there. For most of the outcomes, the sim comes with 25 lines, one of which is randomly chosen and displayed during match play. 25 lines for an outcome(15 for stumped and three runs, 25 for others), a total of 255 lines for a match, and a total of 240 balls bowled in one match. I think that is enough randomization there! Add to the fact that to edit the commentary you just have to open the text file and add whatever changes you want to!
* Even better, extensive stats tracking – Things have gone one step higher here! CS09 now tracks detailed stats as well, like 4’s, 6’s, hundred’s and fifties for a batsman, and 5 wicket hauls for a bowler. These changes are reflected in the in match scorecards too. The stats coming up after every over have been refined as well.
* 7 Different Pitch Types – Yes, that’s right! CS09 features 7 different pitch types, which favour different types of bowlers by bowltype, and either upgrades or degrades the batsmen’s advantage! This can lead to varied gameplay, and choosing of the correct lineup is even more vital now!
* End of Bowling Type Restrictions – All but one restriction on the bowler types in a lineup are removed now! The one that remains is, that there have to be at least 6 bowlers in a lineup to allow fair rotation of bowlers, and out of these 6 bowlers, at least two bowlers should be of the time fast, fast medium or medium fast. The rest 4 can be chosen on the basis of the pitch type and seeing what will produce the best results!
* 32-bit application now, which means it should hopefully run on 64-bit systems as well (BETA was 16-bit).

Ever played a sports management game? Ever heard of games like FIFA Manager or International Cricket Coach? Well here’s your chance to enhance that experience with a very detailed, realistic simulated gaming experience of a Cricket game, in the most interesting format today, T20 cricket!

The primary focus of Cricket Sim 09 (Or CS09 as its known) is not flashy graphics / 3d gaming. The one and the only aim of CS09 is to provide a simulated Cricket experience as realistic as possible – feel the heat of making 12 runs in the final over of a 20-20 over, or playing the 6′th over with 5 down! Only this time you wouldn’t be playing, you’d be managing.

Its like this. You make the team. You put in the players. The challenge is upon you to form a realistic abilitied yet a winning team. Use all the mantra’s, of using different players on different pitch types, only this time putting your all mind in it before the match, and the let the game determine how well you’ve done, and see ball by ball commentary and scores of what is happening.

CS09 also serves as an excellent software for simming Cricket series for various tournaments, like a tournament on a forum. Get those bats slogging!

Full Release, and it can be downloaded here! www.cricketsim09.co.cc

I would like to suggest the use of CS09 for the end of season T20 league which I proposed when I was mod and hopefully the Mod / Admin team took the idea well! :)

I can post a sample simulation of a match here to show what CS09 is capable of! :)

Cheers
Kshitiz

Re: Cricket Sim 09 - The New T20 Simulator

Pretty good. Only thing is that there's no immediate description of what is scored off the ball. Usually it'll go "Bowler to Batsman, one run...etc."

Other than that, it looks pretty good Kshitiz. Now you just need to get a test/one-day sim going. :p

Well that was one of the main ideas mate. To make the commentary more exciting, the commentary is displayed first, and then the final score in the brackets. Makes things more interesting, following and reading lines, even skimming through them...

Unfortunately there are no plans for an OD or FC engine right now, too much work load...

Yes it does, because I've compiled it as a 32-bit Application, not 16-bit like most other DOS apps! :)

Re: Cricket Sim 09 - The New T20 Simulator

It looks great, but can you include instructions.... like what is their batting ability? is it their batting average and what settings for batting aggression, should it be the same or is 80 to high or not high enough? Can you give some basic instructions as to what settings you would use, I figure that batting ability and agression would probably go down as the list goes down and also what settings for the bowlers in regards to ability and aggression. Thanks again for sharing your great work :)

Re: Cricket Sim 09 - The New T20 Simulator

After playing a number of games using this sim.... it has a stack of bugs that still need to be fixed. Things like not always converting the bowlers wickets from comm to the score.... a number of times it's left wickets out. It also will show 3.6 overs instead of 4, I have even seen 2.3 and 3.3 overs... not sure how when the comm says 6 ball's were bowled. There are some others things that I'll send to you. It's a great sim for 20/20 but with some work to do still... I hope you can finish it.

Re: Cricket Sim 09 - The New T20 Simulator

Hey,

Yeah I know it has a lot of bugs. My sim is currently being used in Planet Cricket Premier League Competition, and we're fixing a lot of bugs on the fly as we're finding them, also tuning the scoring rates and such.

My advice would be to wait for a few more days, then a final polished version will be out. :)
