Fletcher resigns
England coach Duncan Fletcher has decided not to renew his contract with the ECB after England's poor Ashes and World Cup showing. Early reports show that the ECB wouldn't have renewed his contract anyway so Fletcher has decided to leave on his own terms.
Fletcher's reign will end after England plays its final World Cup match against West Indies on Saturday. He has been England's coach for eight years with the highlight undoubtedly being England's regaining of the Ashes in 2005 (shortest Ashes reign ever
).
Fletcher leaves England in decent shape test wise, with the English being the second ranked test side in the world. However, their one-day side hasn't fared as well, winning only 42% of its matches against test-playing nations since he took over in mid-1999.
Fletcher will be replaced by Peter Moores, the former coach of Essex and the currecy head of the England Cricket Academy. He takes over on May 1.
