the medium pacer at our club flicks his wrist when he bowls a quicker ball, he also rekons it helps it get more bite of the wicket. i don't flick me wrist because i can only out swing it when i have it solidly behind the ball at release
It's not that simple really. Some people may be able to do it readily, but I think you need to see someone do it to grasp what happens or read about it and be interested in spin bowling to realise the potential of the wrist flick. It also involves the rest of the arm and the shoulder in spin bowling. I think if you look at some of videos on youtube and watch muttiah mularitharan bowling you'll get some idea.
A wrist flick is as it says, at the moment of releasing the ball when bowling, you flick your wrist downwards.
In the video below (apologies for how dark it but it shows enough) you can see that my hand starts in what could be a normal bowling position. but I 'flick' my wrist in order to get more bite, spin, swing etc.
